Title: Lunch -- Friday 6-19-2009
Post by: RED on June 18, 2009, 09:23:33 PM
Anyone up for lunch Friday at The Idle Rich on Mckinney? or further up on McKinney at that funky roadhouse type of place just south of Knox? Plenty of bike parking there in front. If not then post up favs such as Pappas Burger and beers, Cajun and beers, Mex and beers, Chinese, pizza and beers,...don't mater to me. I'll be on two so I'll be HOTr'n Hayl !  [beer]

I will have to be at the appointed culinary establishment as close to 11:30am as possible and get back to town soon after filling the innerds as possible so The Idle is a good bet for me, but hey, whatever.

Man, that is so cool. Gorgeous scenery and great times for sure. Some of those pics had me laughing...pissing over the wall McKraut and the monument (very creative photography), but the best was of his M on top of the mountain all alone. Now that was stirring! That should be sent to DNA. Thanks CJ.  [thumbsup]

Idle Rich, 11:30.  I'm there, man.  And I'll probably recognize you this time, having only been a couple of days since I last saw you.   [cheeky]

Great lunch, great food, great service.  Charlie (RED) and I were joined by Vince (another Ducatiste) and his co-worker, so I didn't have to listen to Charlie whine for an hour.   [cheeky]

Charlie and I rode over to AMS afterwards to kick tires and fondle the merchandise - I ran out and bought a lottery ticket right away.  Hey, my 401K plan is full of them.

Anyway, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to get out of the apartment and have such a lovely time.... being "on the bench" ain't all it's cracked up to be, either.  Thanks, Charlie.

G.

George it was lots of fun for sure. Love the Idle for food stuffs and the beer  [drink] menu can't be beat. I hoep Vince comes on the ride Sunday too! Love to see his 1000RR.

One thing I failed to explain to George before I left (I wasn't ignoring you Gman) was that while we were at AMS I ran into Marques (WhiteCat) while there!! He looked great. He's recovered from the concussion now and doing fine. So we had 'the talk'. You know the one, like ...Well, I remember thinking I'm not going to make this corner (blankness) I woke up at my friends house so what happened in between talk. You might ask yourself, self, why was Marques at AMS in the first place. He told me "Can't stop when something like that happens. You gotta keep getting on the bike. He was getting his NEW RED 1098 serviced! Just like the 848, it too has Termis. Said he had to move up (to the 1098) after the accident and likes this one much better than the 848. For those who are lost you might be able to track down the thread 'WhiteCat down' here in the wayback machine and read up. He did say for me to relay a special thanks again to all who helped him, Tommy, Brian and all those who were around who helped afterwards. Highlight of my week knowing he's doing fine now.

Awesome-ness  [thumbsup]  Glad to hear Marques is well AND still riding... Great taste in bikes as well  [laugh]  Thanks for the update RED.

Very sad I couldn't make this lunch though.  I've not been to Idle Rich before but, dammit, you gots-ta' luv the name  [bang]  I'll try and make the next one.

I'm guardedly optomistic about actually being busy with my Motopia gig now so in addition to my bizarre TDE schedule (completely random, at best), now there's this  [thumbsup]  Unfortunately, it's all kind of taken a bite out of my riding time (and DMF time  :-X  ).

Oh well, I'm thinkin' of y'all  [beer]

good to hear he's well but sending a thank you over a board kinda sucks.  after all the help he got I'd think a hand shake and a beer are more appropriate.  maybe it's just me but I learned the hard way "never leave a fellow rider"

He wasn't left. Tommy and Company went way out of their way to make sure he was checked on at the hospital and taken care of... as well as his bike.

I ran into him at AMS/D a few weeks ago. We also had the "talk". Really glad to see him doing well and back on 2 wheels. He spoke of doing some track days to hone his skills and being much more careful regarding riding. All good stuff. Could have been real bad but it seems to have all turned out very well. Good stuff. [thumbsup]

that's not what I meant. I know because I pulled up right behind Charlie as he rolled to a stop.  I had a serious pucker moment seeing that.  I'm talking about the thanks T, Slag, Charlie and several others (can't remember that far back) deserve for helping.  Totaled trailer and 6 hours to get the bike is a hell of a gesture for another fellow rider.  I'll stop writing emails now, can't seem to get my point across.  :-X

+1 Brian, he did say something now that I think about doing some track days for that reason. Maybe we'll see him out there again on the road. who knows. I did tell him that he should at least get back online to the board and post up. I hope he does. He seems to be a really grounded guy. Right-o All good stuff.

I get your point and well taken. Some just roll a little different than us is all I guess. I'll buy you a beer or 9 whenever you want. Speaking of we need to do a bunch of summer beer gartens. Hmmm....maybe a Beer Garten Tour! Start here and end up in Gruene ok?   [thumbsup] [moto]
