Title: Hello from Northeast NJ

 [beer]
Hi,

First a beer for everyone.  There's a mix in the cooler so pick-out your favorite brew and refresh yourself!

I am almost at the point of purchasing my first Ducati.

I currently have an '89 Harley Sportster.  She has been faithful to me except for the last couple of years.  She has been coughing and sputtering on me during rides and thus has started to become unreliable for long rides; even short runs.  I've had her looked at but considering her age and odometer:  41,000 (of which I put on all but 1,700).  I think her problem is a short somewhere, probably from all the vibration a V Twin can generate.

I had a Yamaha YFZ350 quad which I rode for 2.5 years but sold last fall due to back issues.

I really miss street riding and now is the time to return to 'paved trails'.

I have always admired and respected Ducati's and their owners.  Now's the time to join my brothers and sisters on the best motorcycle from Italy!

I tried out the GT1000 at Cross Country Ducati in NJ last weekend.  What a difference.  No vibration. Soon I was doing 70 and couldn't tell except by the speedo.
I tried to sign up for the Monster 1100 on Saturday Morning, but the copious amounts of liquid sunshine discouraged me from a test run then.  I'll schedule a test ride with the dealer in the near future.

Some people think I'm going backwards by wanting a Duc, coming from a Harley.  I think I'm evolving and want to ride a bike that is more fun and has less vibration than my current Sportster.

I've been reading reviews of members posts on differences of 696's and 1100's and am trying to absorb all which is posted.  I can't wait to do the 1100 test ride.  So all of you 1100 monster owners, would you please send me your feelings about your Monster's positive and negative, and I'll send you a beer in return.

Welcome, thanks for the [drink].

Well, I don't think you will find any arguments here about moving to a Duc being forward progress. ;)  Best of luck in your bike shopping. [thumbsup]

BTW, I suspect you will get more response from 1100 owners if you post up in the General Monster Forum (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=1.0).

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the replies and welcome messages.  As suggested I posted a thread querying 1100 owners on the General Forum.

Today it is a Beautiful Day here in the North East.  I hope everyone that has a Ducati took her out for a putt today... I know I would....  (patience, patience).

Ride Safe!
