Title: My Stebel Died
Post by: He Man on June 28, 2009, 06:18:09 PM
Stebel Nautilus. 1.5 years Active Duty. NYC Taxi War Vetern. RIP

Stebel has a 2 year warranty on it, but i cant find a receipt ( though i probably have CC records) but im thinking mine died from abuse.... and i cant find stebels manufacture contact information.

How long did yours last? Mine must of seen atleast 3 momments where i held onto the horn for about 2 minutes straight. Mostly casue some Brian Wbag decided to park in a no standing due to rush hour traffic zone and then zap on your cell.

cheap replacements? possibly louder?

how about AROGAAHHHHHH

I don't have long term experience with the Stebel - I've had mine for a couple of months

Stebel recommends intallation with the supplied relay - if you didn't use the relay your horn switch may be fried [bang]

Stebel also recommends that the horn should be installed within 15 degrees from vertical - if not the compressor will not last very long

Check the relay and wiring connections - check the air intake port on the horn - sometimes insects and other crap gets sucked in

If i didnt have a relay, it wouldnt of stood up to 2 minute onslaughts  ;). Fuse and relay in line. it also sits directly vertical.

thing is just fried. i hooked it up to my batt and it just goes wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and rumbles. doesnt look like theres anything in it. hooked up the stock horn. :( i feel helpess on the streets.

Why not buy another Stebel? Or the Wolo Bad Boy since it's a little cheaper?

FWIW, I've seen on more than one Stebel thread on various motorcycle forums that the original Stebel relay is crap an folks have had better luck with a comparable Bosch relay.

i've read somewhere that the wolo bad boy (sold on harbor freight) is made by the same manufacturers as the stebel.  i went with the dual trumpets in your first post.  i too live in fear in tri-state.  too many soccer moms in bergen county and surrounding areas. and +1 for picking up a bosch relay.

I'm thinking you could use brake line instead of airline and make that setup disappear better...
