Title: Warranty Question
Post by: cletus_cassidy on May 20, 2008, 08:45:35 AM
I'm a new Monster owner (bought my 2007 S2R 1000 in March from a friend) and I'm coming up on 4000 miles.  I have a couple of (stupid) questions about Ducati's warranty.  First, does the warranty transfer between owners?  Second, what determines when the warranty starts?  I have all of the paper work, but I'm not sure when the warranty ends and I want to try to get the 6000 mile service done under warranty.  Finally, does work under warranty only apply at the place of purchase or any Ducati dealership?

Thanks in advance.

yes the warranty transfers.  the warranty should have started when the bike was originally delivered.  6000 mile service (7500 on '07 s2r1k) is not a warranty issue, that is maintenance and you are responsible for the entire bill (unless they uncover some other warranty issue while doing service, ie worn valve guides).  finally, any dealer should be able to do warranty work for you

- Yes
- the original date of purchase
- not going to happen
- any authorized dealership or provider

The warranty follows the bike not the owner(s)..  keep all maintenance receipts in case any valid warranty issues ever come up.  Any dealer can look up when the bike was first warranty registered (sold) with the VIN..
