Title: NYC Equpment Violation question
Post by: He Man on July 04, 2009, 06:25:20 PM
A few guys told me that you can (for license plate and license plate light) simply show up to the Police Precinct and show that you fixed it and get the ticket dissolved. Any truth behind this?

I had an equipment violation when I got my bike (Riding with the visor up), cop told me to just bring the proper stuff. Long story short. I paid the ticket, court fee's and some other fee. Ended up costing me more than double.

Word of advice, Just pay the fine don't fight it save yourself the aggravation! it does not go on your license.

wow. thats pretty retarded. They make you pay a court fee? Half the time the judge is bias anyway city needs the money. Im going to stop by the precint tomorrow and see whats up. if not, im probably just going to hire a one of those 50% of savings lawyers to deal with it. i havent paid a full priced ticket since my first one after i learned how to work the system.

thanks for the heads up

A ticket for visor up, though an equipment violation is not a "fix it" ticket.  Items like a non functioning bulb are.  For those items, a receipt for repair will get you out of the ticket.  You can either present this to a hearing officer or mail it in.  The police don't deal with your ticket once it is issued.
