WOW!
That coverage sucked.
Too bad those of us who have to watch it from home, have to endure the same pain with the Indy coverage.
I was hopeful that FOX would do a decent job.
FAIL!! :'(
NBC was 10 times better and NBC sucked. Made the whole race look boring, 70% commercials. Give me Speed any day.
I knew it wouldn't take long.

Oh and by the way the coverage of NASCAR on FOX is awesome. ;D
I loved Greg White's explanation of the "massive" carbon fiber swingarm on Stoner's Ducati. :P It keeps the wheel all lined up... bet you didn't know that. [roll] My friend watching the race with me said they must be dumbing it down for all the Grandmothers that normally watch NASCAR.
I don't get it. White used to do a pretty decent job with his Two Wheel Tuesday show on Speed. When did he start taking all the stupid pills?
My favorite part was, Casey seems to be sticking that left foot out, WHY?......silence for about 5 seconds......
I thought they went to Carbon Fiber to get the bike to start flexing a bit more than the steel trellis frame. And man did that thing wobble come of every single line.
what i couldn't believe is bang timer kicked in ...and the race starts ...no warm up lap ..nothing ...just right to the race
soooooooooooo bad the coverage
Maybe if the commentator took the dip out of his lip we could understand what he was saying.
Yes, that coverage sucked.
I think I'm going to get a MotoGP.com subscription instead so that I don't end up shooting myself on August 30 when they do Indy.
I couldn't help thinking the whole time that the guy sounded like a boxerâ€"was he in a bad accident once (without a helmet) or what?
Thank God we still have F1 with Varsha, Hobbs, Matchett & Windsor!

something like that:
Scott Russell Crash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6MIBaC2My0#lq-lq2-hq-vhq)
either way, diffey/russell is lightyears better than shaheen/spencer.
aside from the greg white swingarm incident, it was pretty decent coverage.

As derby already stated that was Scott Russell.

Amen brother [thumbsup]
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that hated the coverage. Hated it. How can we expect new viewers to become fans when the announcers sound bored. No excitement, no real knowledge, and on top of that- they showed stats and info panes that covered half the screen! EVERY time they returned from the too frequent commercial break, they went straight to shots of the crowd or pits instead of the race. Pathetic. I hate to say it but I don't like watching the races in the u.s. because they're so poorly broadcasted. [bang]
I'm gonna go with "glass half full" for once. I was happy to see that Scott Russel improved on his announcing since Miller. This was much better. [thumbsup]

i'm pretty sure those graphics are from the international feed.
Fox VP: We're doing the US Grand Prix race from Mazda Laguna Seca this year!
Producer: Great! Can you get me some pit passes to see Tony Stewart?
Fox VP: That's NASC(rap)AR...
Producer: Oh, well then, how about a pass to see Schumacher's Ferrari!
Fox VP: He retired....but, I'll put you on the list and we'll see what develops...
Greg White's starting to remind me of this guy... ;)

Are you kidding me, did you read my post.
I'll admit the announcing was actually an improvement. However, losing 2-3 laps every commerical break is lame. That is my main complaint.

Gotta pay the bills. ;)
I actually thought the coverage was pretty good as far as American networks go, and I like Russell. My complaints were pretty much the same as everybody else:
- The swingarm discussion was ridiculous, and I felt embarrased for White
- The "Progressive Race Report" that had no information covered half the screen
- Watching the crowd while I could hear racing going on the background was frustrating
I'm not saying the commentators had no knowledge. I meant that they did not share it well. I felt much less informed throughout the race than I do when the races are outside the u.s.

Actually, I do. And Scott Russell may have been a great rider, but I don't much like him as an announcer. At ;east t was on a major network and maybe some new fans were exposed to the sport.
the picture was much better than the pre 70's stuff speed shows... the commentary was way less than par... i felt like i missed a lot due to the freaking commercials, and what was with the race just starting no pre race no warm up lap?? the announcers were way lost on most things. i like russell because i live in east point his birth place but stick to the ama announcing... the brit boys are way better at it and more exciting....
They're not Eurosport yet, but it's improving. Diffey was impressive. He knows the riders, the pit crews and even some history. Not bad. If Speed keeps showing qualifying (fat chance), that will be really cool.
I know it's not fair, but Russell reminds me of this fella:

Wan't that the normal GreedTV crew? I dropped Greed after Daytona when I saw their schedule for covering the remaining races...after 4 years I gave up. Now I catch the Eurosport coverage of FP1 & qualifing and BBC coverage of the races...it's night and day boys.

Does the Motogp.com coverage look like youtube, or does it look like the HD trailers off iTunes? If the video is good, then how's the buffering time?
I'm with you about the pregnant doging, since no one really cares, but I'm not so sold on paying for web coverage since 99% of web video looks like ass or takes too long to load and is constantly rebuffering.
I never have issues with gp.com buffering. It takes a few secs to get goin, then its solid all the way through. I'm running the hi-def package atm. The video isn't flawless, but its pretty good.
How fast of a connection do you need for the GP subscription?
I have DSL, but it's not the fastest because it isn't available in my area.
keep in mind that the motogp.com high end package is specifically called "high-res", not HD. it's not HD; it's just larger format standard def.
i didn't buy the package this year but i had it the two years prior and thought it was well worth the $.
they are having 1/2 price now for the package.
mitt
For the money its worth it, you get to see all the special interviews, action clips, full races with no comercials, 125 and 250. The quality is good enough, you can watch it full screen and know whats going on, sometimes its difficult to make out the names and times across the bottom of the screen.
okay...here is my wine about paying for MotoGP coverage...
if I am going to pay to watch racing, I want to watch actual good racing and quite frankly, for the most part with MotoGP, you just don't seem to get that. For what MotoGP.com wants a year, it just doesn't add up to me. If I were offered the exact same coverage in a package like what they do for say the WSBK product, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat, because that has a value that is commensurate with what I want to see!
is that a pinot or a cab?

might have an argument against the racing in motogp, but 125s and 250s are off the hook. pony up the bucks and sub!
