Title: CARB HELP!!!
Post by: abbottstjumper on July 08, 2009, 05:43:50 PM
OK so I posted a few days ago that I rebuilt my carbs on my M900 and that the bike ran great!!! Well that was until this morning when it died about a mile from my house. I left and it ran fine for the first half mile then started sputtering, back firing and then just died, it started back up and then just died again. I'm wondering if I might have the mixture off or maybe the wrong needle settings. I also noticed a few shims and washers below the jet needle and I'm wondering if thats normal. If any one here has rebuilt their carbs with a factory Jet kit please let me know, I have a few questions.

Also if you have any other recommendations as to what it could be I could use the help. I'm wondering if I should go to a shop and have it tuned, if so where do you recommend? I live in Waltham, and would like to resolve this ISSUE ASAP.....   ??? ??? ???

HELP, HELP, HELP!!!

The closest duc shop is Riverside Motorsports...  you're probably a lot more knowledgeable than I am, but I'll stop by on my way home if you want another brain or another pair of hands.

OK!!!! I'm hoping that unlike most other post I read, this will not come back to haunt me!!

I think I fixed the issue, came down to the carbs being out of sync (used a vacuum gauge to sync), I also moved the jet a notch lower (now 3 from the top) and I also double checked my floats, put it all back together and took her for a spin (pounded on her hard) and no sputtering, no hesitation..... clean sailing!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

So if anyone needs to borrow a vacuum gauge, I got one to loan!! I'm going to take her out again in a git and I hope things remain good!!!
