Seems like there is a bit of summer fever around here and its time get out from behind the key board and meet some of the people we kick in the balls online (http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/images/smilies/kicknuts.gif).....Or….. ummm to put some faces with names. In the earlier days of the MOB there were more tech days and such to hang out but the usual hosts seem to be busy with life (losers). So Aug 8th stop on by the DTM oasis, we'll do a bbq pot luck and ill have some refreshments on hand. Tools and such will be available if you want to do some maintenance, always fun to work on someone else's bike after a few beers! Volleyball net will be set up so just come and have a good time.
This will also be a going away party for Vindingo, he's heading back to Jersey to be a doctor or some b.s. whatever if he wants to throw away his life in school that’s fine with me. [roll]
When: Aug 8th 2009
Time: 12:00-?
Where: San Jose. Pm for address, I don’t want the entire intreweb know where I live.
What to bring: Anything you want to throw on the grill or a tasty summer refreshment. For tech day stuff, any supplies you need, oil, blinker fluid, pistons, lower end bearings ect. Don’t show up expecting some one to do the work for you, have a good clue on what your trying to do, "experts" will be available answer questions. "A" game for the volleyball.
Best way to get there: If you want a Pre ride, Veterans you can do Mines over Mt Hammy and when you drop into SJ you be fairly close to the house. Something a little less intense, Palomars>Calaveras>Sierra (or include redwood) and it will drop off next to the house. Ride SAFE! No bumper bikes!
palomar to calaveras (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Redwood+Rd&daddr=37.746286,-122.090034+to:Palomares+Rd+to:Palomares+Rd+to:Calaveras+Rd+to:Calaveras+Rd+to:Calaveras+Rd+to:Sierra+Rd+to:Piedmont+Rd&geocode=FZzGQAIdPNK3-A%3B%3BFWN0PgIdf9e6-A%3BFYm6PQIdyjy7-A%3BFaw2PQId3oe8-A%3BFbY4PAIdhP28-A%3BFeRbOwIdRvW8-A%3BFX3SOgIdfI29-A%3BFcasOgIdPMO8-A&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=13&via=1,2,5,7&sll=37.743435,-122.103081&sspn=0.070043,0.148144&ie=UTF8&ll=37.700121,-122.055187&spn=0.070084,0.148144&z=13)

And RSVP so I know how many hooligans to prep for.
Any questions? Let the witty, insightful, useless comments on this thread begin :P
Food: There will be some different types os sausage, ribs, sodas, water and some beer. Feel free to bring wahtever else you'd like to share.

I'm game. Thx for setting this up, DTM.
This sounds like a lot of fun! Mrs.152 and I may ride over for a bit - anywhere in SJ shouldn't be too far of a ride. I haven't met too many people on here in person and I am pretty quiet at parties but I always love learning new tech stuff.
Specifically, I want to get rid of that airbox and radiator shroud on my 696 but I'm nervous I'm going to screw something up and get stuck not riding for a few days.
Sending PM.

Id say to pick up everything you need and ask questions in the tech forum, come ready with the "what to do" and we can probably get someone to help you do it. Just mention beer and a sawzall and you'll get some volunteers. [thumbsup]

Back to the most important thing about this gathering of bombastic bastards... the food.
Has there been any semi-formal list of potential eats that will be brought?
My 12 years of tailgating experience has afforded me the opportunity to force people to eat try out many items that normally I wouldn't serve.
My potential items are:
* Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and then wrapped in bacon and grilled (don't stand in the smoke cloud your eyes WILL burn)
* A super simple feta-corn-avocado salad
* Then just some meat of various makes
Good start, i was thinking..
-4-hour brown sugar pork baby back ribs
-corn on the cobb
-pinapple sausage
maybe a smoked tri-tip, im going to try out the smoker we have this weekend and see what i can do with it.
If there is some way to cook it there, I could bring a couple of pounds of bacon. [bacon]

Then bacon it is.

Hey Snag me a few urchines while you are down there. I can gross everyone out by eating them at the BBQ =)

I was looking online and I cant find out any information about freezing a Urchin. You can prob freeze the row but that's a lot of work on your part. I know they live for about 2 to 3 days in the fridge so perhaps its not all that great of a idea =)
Thanks though.
Oh cool. We can watch Rob get food poisoning. [thumbsup]
Yea I kind of didn't want to deal with whole frozen urchins. They are OK just eating them off the beach but I don't know about the processing part. They used to process Urchins right here in the harbor but now I think they send them down to S.F. or something.

GOOD MORNING DONOVAN!!!!
What a cool afternoon. Thanks for putting it on, Dan!

I think we're just about into the USDA Prime riding season. Perfect temperatures, superb road conditions, light breezes. Life is good.
