Title: Sidi Vertigo Air boot fit ????'s
Post by: sbui on July 13, 2009, 07:05:01 PM
So I just got the boots sitting here with them on. but wondering about how it should feel.  I take it that in the ankle with flexing up and down, I should feel really comfortable with them on correct not too snug.  as for the heel to toe fit how snug do you need it???

I am wearing thin socks all the time, with the boot sitting in a stool, havent gone to the bike yet to see how it really feels on it.  Really nice boots, if anything like my cycling shoes than they are a keeper.  Noticed how when in the chair with the legs in somewhat of the riding position the flex in the ankles are good but not sure what else.  Bike is parked outside and don't want to scuff up the soles walking outside with them on just in case.

Now walking with them on they do feel kind of loose on the foot, but in the riding position they feel fine.  I know these are not the type of boots that do not need a "break in period"  So if I'm walking in them and they are a little loose, but in the riding position they feel good, I assume they are the correct fit???  I had to buy these on line, and no one had my size in my area to try them on.  Sidi shoe size 41 but might think I need smaller, but according to the motonation website, they are supposed to be a perfect fit.  Advice????

I have the older Vertebra II boot.

There is no movement in the foot when walking.

My Vertigos are tight all around and I think they should be, for safety and overall comfort.
My boots haven't stretched at all.

If you have some room to spare in front of your toes as well - I'd consider half a US size smaller.

My Air's feel snug when I walk around and I don't notice them when I am riding.

I have 5 different brands of Boots. I have a pair of Sidi B-2s and they feel just a smidgen roomy.

When on the bike they feel just fine.

I'd say as long as your foot doesn't move around in the boot and it feels like there is a fairly snug fit at the ankle area you should be ok.

my sidi vertigo airs are one size smaller than the sidi chart would suggest for my shoe size.   Nothing pinches, but certainly no extra room.  The charted size was too big.

It's hard to tell by your description what fits.  They shouldn't feel loose, but like you said it's how they feel on the bike.  You don't want them to be so loose than your foot can roll within the boot.  A lot of the boot's foot protection against twisting comes from having it snug around your foot.  Like Statler said, nothing pinches, but no extra room.

For reference, since we wear the same size, I typically wear an 8.5 shoe, sometimes straying toward 9 (which is generally too large).  I wear a 41 in Vertigos.  Be aware that the Vertigo and the Vertigo Corsa fit differently.  A 41 in a Corsa is so small it is painful.

thanks for the advice guys, I sent the boots back.  When on the bike, the foot could slide back and forth.  Talked with the folks at Motonation, and they are sending me the smallest size so hopefully they might fit.

If not then Sidi wasn't the brand for me, but I hope it is, cause it was one sweeeet boot for the price I paid.

I have a pair of Sidi Strada Airs that fit perfectly at a 44.  I ran into a need for new boots though (the Stradas would not close that well around my new trousers) and ended up going with some new high-end Pumas.  Ordered them in a 45 and am hoping for the best.  Should be here tomorrow.  <crossed finger smiley>

+1 I had to send my boots back in after taking it for the initial ride.  One size smaller and everything is all snug.  BTW, I love my Vertigo.
