One last time... Steph'll be out of town, but we might be moving as early as next week, so come on over this Saturday.
3:00 on. Come any time, plan on staying late.
Beer, rock band. Shall we throw some chicken on the grill?
Who's bringing scotch & cigars?!?
I'll have some stoges! ;D I'll try to grab some scootch too.
See you there, maybe lunch too [beer]
[thumbsup] [drink] [beer] [bacon]
WTF, you're moving?
I want to say that I feel betrayed that your moving, but then, uh, I'm in Los Angeles. [bang]
But let me say this:
The LSD/DFW Monster peeps are the best. Even though I was way out in Mineola, and I was a complete stranger, everyone welcomed me with open arms. It is regretful that I haven't had more opportunity to hang with everyone.
Having said that, it must also be said that of all the great folks I've met, you, Scott, have simply been the kindest and warmest of them all to me.
The bad news for me is that I will not be able to join you and others before your departure.
The good news for me is that you're moving closer to LA! So I won't have to go as far to drop by for a beer or two! [drink] [beer]
Safe travels and Godspeed to you all around.
Norris
Damn, I'm really going to miss everybody... Hope everyone can stop by tomorrow at some point!
Let me know if u need directions [thumbsup]
if you missed us then you wouldn't leave.....
I've got my kitchen points balance totaled and it's looking good! [thumbsup] I'll see the gang at Jack's around one-ish. I have a cooler with some Shiner Black Lager and Newcastle iced down and cooling in the garage as I type this. [drink] I can even bring a few cigars for those willing to partake. Jennifer has even made noises about coming even though she has been thoroughly warned about the potential of intense talk of motorbikes, riding, Formula 1/MotoGP racing, more motorbikes, the heat, more scooter talk, Taos, NM, etc... Ya'll show her some pity and ask about Colin and other non-scooter related stuff... I know she'd appreciate it! [laugh] ;D [beer] [bacon]
See ya'll manana!
fastwin
i'll be there 10-15min after 5:00.... [beer]
[beer] Good times today & good to see everyone - sure gonna miss DLS & congregating at the Warehome :'(
Very nice day indeed, sorry we won't be making an evening of it. Jen and I have decided to hunker down at home after her exciting day in Krum and Denton. Good lunch at Jack's, great to see Chris, Charles, Red and George from the west group! Sorry that Andy took a beating on his food being served and then on the bill. WTF? That's not their style at Jack's, just a fritz in their normally good food delivery system. Have no idea what the deal was? Personally I think they were just picking on the English folks today? [laugh]
Good times at the Warehome too. Hopefully everyone took time to sign the Ducati poster. As always, good to talk scooters with Giannis! I could talk bikes with him all day. He has forgotten more about bikes and cool one off bikes than people twice his age should know! Always enjoy that!
I know we will all miss Scott and Stephanie. But, in looking at this in a completely different way, this gives us all a new direction to travel for a group road trip! We tend to think Hill Country or Arkansas, now we have an excuse to go northwest to northeast New Mexico!! I have access (when available) to our family cabin north of Cimarron. This could be a really cool road trip if it wasn't for the horrid trek through west Texas from Decatur, Texas to Clayton New Mexico! But hey, that's what trailers are for!!
The main thing personally for me is to again say how much I appreciate Scott and all he did for me and Jennifer when I was in Baylor Hospital. Jen was a basket case, she wasn't sure at first if I would even live and then worried if I would be paralyzed from the neck down. She never had a good nights sleep for weeks and it was folks like Scott, Patrick, Leo and others that helped her life be semi normal. The actions of Scott and others helped her survive all the bullshit and trauma. I was really fine, I had great help from an incredible medical staff. But it was the help from Scott that made me feel that Jen would be OK. She needed that support and I, from a hospital bed with four crushed vertebrae, couldn't give her that. That is where Scott and other friends kicked in to help. Money can never buy that kind of friendship and devotion. That comes from the heart. And my friend, Scott Metcalfe, has a heart the size of Texas. How do you ever repay something like that? You can't. All you can do is say thank you and promise to do the same for others if ever given the chance. And that I will do. Thanks Scott. I love you Brother! Hope to see you soon in your new digs!!
Brian/fastwin
Damn. Just, damn... Now I'm really verklempt. Y'all are, simply, the best. Nothing better than a 10 hour party [evil]
A more appropriate adios to the WareHome could not have been had.
I've said it before & I'll say it again- I've been part of many groups, yet despite the very wide diversity, there is a depth of character, genuineness, & friendship that is unsurpassed.
Fastwin- thanks for the most excellent Stoner poster [thumbsup] I finally sat down about 1:30 this morning to read the back (don't be surprised if you come out & it's displayed backwards ;) )
Thanks to everyone who brought beer, & many thanks to everyone who made the time to stop by.
Give us a coupla months, but we should be ready for the onslaught of visitors soon. Ski/snowboard season is coming up, & next spring the roads will be calling [moto]
Happy Trails to all [thumbsup]
OK, Scott, you also have to win some sort of award for having 5,500 posts!! Holy s#@t!! If you even get internet service in the backwoods of NM I can only guess you'll be busting the 10K mark by end of summer!! [laugh]
Again, good times yesterday. Lots of fun and thank God we didn't do that last weekend! At 105+ degrees the party would have been all inside or it would have lasted about 10 minutes outside! Wasn't really all that bad at all... the weather Gods gave us a break for the shindig. [thumbsup] [beer] All good stuff. [clap]
It was great seeing us all together again! I too really enjoyed seeing everyone and wish I'd had had some more time to socialize.
Brian, Just let me know when you or anyone else for that matter want to go out cuz I'm there! the Rockies are a deep source of inner contentment for me and love getting out there anytime I can...not to mention ...going to see .....uh,... what's his name...uh...with that cute gal Steph....uh, yeah well, him to go out and see them in the new digs! Spring roads? Some say planning a ride already? [thumbsup]
Glad to see you all.

Kind of... We haven't closed yet, but we are living here. We just got internet yesterday via satellite dish, not as fast as DSL, but better than dial-up. I've taken tons of photos, & am going to start a blog next week when I'm back in the big city for a week ;D
Nice house in Taos... [thumbsup]
Congrats [beer]
Ah, arena 54? Try area 51!
Just got back from there tonight after an eleven hour drive with two 12 year old boys bouncing off the roof of my Suburban! Yeah, that's why I am drinking a Big Gulp top shelf margarita right now!! Missed Scott being back in DFW but he and I knew that we'd miss each other due to my family vacation. Never got any closer than Angel Fire anyway.
Spent the whole time thinking about a small trailer group ride to the Enchanted Triangle area similar to the "LYD tour" earlier this year. The ride through west TX from Decatur,TX to Springer, NM just sucks on a bike! No matter which way you go.
Saw two thousand Harleys like Muskrat's bike but they all went 10+ mph UNDER the speed limit!!! No shit, from Springer, NM to Clayton, NM I followed a huge ass RV pulling a huge ass enclosed trailer in my ancient Suburban and that guy hauled ass! We passed group after group of Harley tourers all going UNDER the speed limit in the middle of no where!!!!! How f#@king sad is that when you get passed by a trailer pulling big ass RV while you are riding a bike???? I told the kids to hang out the windows and chastise the Harley riders as we passed in the wake of the RV! Jennifer vetoed me!!
Harley's do run over 55mph right?
Brian I did have my Buell XB12R up to 156, does that count? (by the way thats all it had)
Just good spirited jiving of the DMF Harley riders. [thumbsup] [laugh] But all those guys were seriously poking along... I'm talking retirement home speed! I could see riding slow if it was beautiful mountain scenery that you wanted to look at while riding but this part of that drive kinda sucks. You want to get done with it fast! Boring as hell!
156!! That's damn fast on anything!!! :o Is that the bike you hit the big ass pot hole on? I remember you telling me that story, I just can't remember if that was the Buell or not??

must have been a Shriners ride, kinda surprised you didn't get an invite to that.
and yes they do run 55+ but barely. :P I've never ridden through West Texas at less than sustained speeds of 85 mph on any bagger I've owned. Any idiot doing over 100 in a bagger should be thinned from the gene pool anyway.

Oh man, when I hear people talking about Harleys I feel like Hank Hill watching Bobby do his stand up routine.
[bang]
...."Little Paink houses for you and meeee".....
Hey, I'd do a Shriner's ride! [thumbsup] I also agree that parts of West Texas and that part of New Mexico should be viewed at a high a speed blur. I can't imagine just poking along that slowly whether on a bike or in a car through boring scenery. Maybe they were counting fence posts or prairie dog mounds?? ;D
I will also say I have never seen more Harleys (no, I have not been to Sturgis or Daytona) on our annual cabin trip. Saw a couple of Suzook V-Stroms, one BMW GS and one flying brick, 3-4 Goldwings and all the rest were Harleys! All joking around about slow riders aside... but damn, there were a lot of Harleys! A couple of pretend metric tourers but all the rest were official Motor Company bikes. My hats off to 'em. Somebody had to sell all those bikes! They have their niche down for sure. [clap]

Satellite dish!!! Day-um!!! Now you kin git TeeVee, Scott!!! [thumbsup]
Not sure he's a TV person. ;D But then again, I'm not either... except for weather reports and race stuff. When did TV become reality TV? [bang] What's up with that? Amazing Race my ass! [roll] I've seen an amazing race and it was Imola 2002 between Bayliss and Edwards. Now THAT'S an amazing race! [thumbsup]

+1 on any race taking precedence over standard TV fare. [beer]
