We're proud to announce our Ninth Annual BBQ and 5th Annual Bike Show, on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Thomas Bull Park (Orange County) in Hamptonburgh, NY.
Just like last year, we have a private section reserved with covered picnic tables, a softball diamond, a playground and a volleyball court. There is plenty of room (and shade) for you and your family, and we hope to see you there!
This is a great way for you to spend the day with your family and with your friends, in a safe, kid-friendly environment.
It's also a great way to pick up your new club shirt. Please see http://www.desmoducati.org/shop.html (http://www.desmoducati.org/shop.html) for more information on ordering shirts.

This year also marks our Fifth Annual Bike Show. Last year we had scores of entries spanning 45 years of Ducati history and we awarded trophies in 6 categories:
Best of Show
Best 4V Sportbike
Best 2V Sportbike
Best SportTourer
Best Naked
Best Vintage
Not only will you get to see pretty much every recent model, but you'll also get to see some great vintage Ducati singles and twins, and probably some Bimotas and Cagivas, too. Our members own some fantastic motorcycles, and are always eager to share their piece of history with us. And don't forget to pack yours!
For information on participating in the Bike Show, please email: bikeshow@desmoducati.org.
As always, we'll host our World Famous door prize raffle, featuring swag from some great vendors, including Absolute Cycle, Chase Harper and Pirelli tires. Last year we raffled off helmets, battery tenders, trackdays, bike locks, hats, shirts, tools, gift certificates, leather riding jackets, oil, and so much more. I don't think anyone went home empty-handed.
We've already received some fantastic donations, more is on the way, and we're always very appreciative of our sponsors.
Our BBQ just keeps growingâ€"please don't miss out. This is your chance to meet and mingle with dozens of Ducatisti, talk about and show off your bike, share your trackday experiences, check out the bling on everyone else's bike, and visit (or sell in) a Swap Meet.
Photos from last year's BBQ are here: http://www.desmoducati.org/bbq2008recap.html (http://www.desmoducati.org/bbq2008recap.html)
Jim Loughran returns as our BBQ caterer and he will personally man the grill and bring us Orange County's tastiest menu. Tons of fun and tons of food! This year's menu includes:
Hamburgers/Cheese Burgers/Hot Dogs
Sausage and Peppers
Pulled Pork
St. Louis Spare Ribs
Peppercorn Pork Tenderloin in a Brandy Cream Sauce
Hot Smoked Sausage
BBQ Chicken
Red Potato Salad
Corn on the Cob
Watermelon
And much, much more
The price for adults is just $27.50 each, while children under 12 are $13.75 each.
And don't forget to combine your payment with our new shirt, or something else from our Shop, and pick up your merchandise that afternoon.

PS Ally can use some volunteers to help with the Bike Show, we helped last year.

DESMO GIMMICK RALLY
For those riding up to the Q we are going to run a Gimmick Rally from the Harriman area to Thomas Bull Park to arrive just in time to kick off the BBQ. The rally will be about 1-1/2 hours long and will travel the back roads of Orange County via a simple route. Along the route there will be places for you to stop and answer a simple question, such as; "How many windows in the church" before heading off to the next way-point. We will provide the route sheet and map for each rider along with the question sheet and a pen. There will be trophys presented at the BBQ for the winners.
So sign up!
As of now I think I`ll be there. Anyone want to set something up to ride from NYC LI area?

I'll be going too i'll set up the ride, everyone in the area is more than welcome to meet and ride up with me. I only request you wear your gear.
I've yet to do a long distance run like this (I'm on LI). Having just gotten back to riding this season after a few years hiatus (and being a new duc owner) I'm seriously considering this.
Mook/Glantern: how long a ride would it be: 2 - 2 1/2 hours?
From my house its 2hours and 50minutes, but i live way out east in Riverhead :o
So from the meeting spot, which will be out west on the island, probably more like 2 hours.
I'm up for joining a ride up to the BBQ if you guys don't mind having a "spirited" rider (on the GCR scale). I'm far form being a hooligan and have been taking it on the easier side these days.

I just request you wear full gear, be legal etc etc. I might plan some twisties for the way home, we will see how long the bbq is.

the crowd usually breaks up after the raffle ends, maybe 5:30ish. feel free to leave whenever you want, though, whether it's earlier or later.
Being last year's Stronzo Award winner for the best "unintentional mod," I can say that it is a good time to be had by all! [thumbsup]
I'm gonna come too! I'm not familiar with the area but it looks there might be some twisties. I'm gonna have to rip it up before I see everybody. Does anybody have a route planned?

Ok we will be meeting here at 9am for some tasty breakfast. Then from there we will either head straight to the BBQ or if people are interested we will meet up for the gimmick rally. See you at 9! Check your pms for contact info and be sure to send me yours if i do not receive a pm with your phone # i will not wait for you at the meet spot.

Pls wear your gear. Also bring along a pair of shorts and flip flops so you do not have to wear your leathers all day.
Well, the gimmick rally got cancelled, so that's now out of the equation.....
Sorry to be missing it this year, but have fun! Post up some pics!
Good time hanging out and riding with you guys.
Razzo cleaned house at the raffle. We were wondering and laughing about how he was going to get all the stuff home, until he won a ridiculously large tank bag that it all fit in.
STPRocks was the lucky bastard to win a trackday..
The ride home was fun. We have to go ride soon.
Maybe someone will post some pics!
STP put up a site to host pics (check US site) and I uploaded mine last night. I think GLANTERN took some pics too.
good to meet you guys! look forward to riding with you again!
