Lady slammed on her brakes when the light turned yellow. Her compact SUV needed less room than my truck. Sent me airborn, broke my windshield, shot the spring out of my suspension. I honestly don't know how bad it is. I'll have to crawl around it tommorow.
Aw man! So sorry to hear about that. Are you ok? Is she? That really sucks!
Hope you are ok. But I have to ask, If your truck has that much damage, how much does her granola wagon have?
Let us know if we can help with anything.
We both were. Just looked under the truck and it's ugly. Lots of bent stuff. It's gonna need a frame off to fix it all. Time to start saving for new wheels. :'( I WILL fix it, but it's gonna be awhile before I can start.
Were you wearing your seatbelt? Call me back about what we are doing tomorrow. Meeting halfway or the bus to get the Lebaron to you.
Man that sucks. I hate this kind of news. I hope you get her up amd running soon. If you need any parts near me, just let me know and I will pick up and ship them to you

Thanks man, I really appreciate that. Got a headache now but I've been worse in moto wrecks. Here's a before shot of the damaged area.

Darn, that bites....
I'm glad you are not seriously hurt
Let me know if I can help with anything
Turns out my head is broke.... it's a pre-existing condition though. ;D
Anyway, I'm feeling better, when I called Mom to share my grief with someone else who would understand having a strangly person bond with a vehicle she offered to let me use her LeBaron until I could get the Dragon on the road again so thanks Mom. [beer] [thumbsup] That's a huge "what do I do now off my mind".
Anyway to give everyone an idea of why I'm so saddened a short little story.
See, it's more than a truck to me. My Dad brought it down from Colorado Springs to Albuquerque for me about five years ago. When it came down I'd left it sitting broken for a couple years at my brothers. It was the only thing I had left to my name after about 10yrs of hard drinking. I poored every cent I made into it for about 2 monthes. By the time it was up and running again I'd been sober for that 60 days and my life changed SOOOO much during that brief time that I decided to keep it going, so next came two motorcycle projects. By the time I got to six monthes sober I decided I wasn't going to dring again until I was a shrivled up old man. It started on July 11, 2004. 10 yrs ago this truck started the process that got me sober. If I have to tear it down to the frame.... hell if I have to build it a frame, it'll ride again. This truck is more than a truck to me. It's a symbol of all I have to lose, it's a symbol of how far I've come. Plus I just love driving it. I love the way it feels when I'm just cruising to work, I love the exhaust note, it's the perfect blend of loud but mellow. I actively enjoy the act of driving when I'm in it, I'm not just commuting or going to the store, I'm driving. I've said it to friends "the ONLY way I'd ever sale this truck or let it die is if my little girl was going hungry". In any worst case scenario it is the last possesion I'd sale.
I love this truck.
:'( poor truck....
Well, I totally get it since I feel the same way about the Landcruiser, but not for the same reasons. I didn't know why you felt that way, but I do now. Good job and keep it going.
Never sell it. It's bombproof - just like you.
[thumbsup]
wow [clap] now that is something,
u know were here to help u any way we can, and knowing how much this meant to u is awesome...thx for sharing :)
Like DucMouse said, thanks for sharing. I think most of us can relate in our own ways. No doubts that you WILL get it going again. Keep us posted and let us know if you need anything from us. BTW, does it/she? he? have a name??

Sorry to hear about Your truck, and there are some things in life a person should never let go !! I'm sure it will be fixed with proper care. there are a few of that model around here if You need parts, maybe post a list and We could start looking. Possibly a whole donor truck... Gotta love the "politically correct" statement, so very true.

Thanks KRJ, finances are gonna prevent me from getting to far into it at the moment. But the offers to help are much appreciated by everyone, I have little doubt that I'll be tapping into some of the expertise this board and the people here have. Thank you to everyone sincerely I am thankful from the bottom of my heart. [beer]
Hmmm.... talking with my brother Kyle. He has a 1980 F350 4X4 he picked up for nothing that needs title work. I was thinking about putting a newer chassis under the truck for ease of parts finding. I think it should already have a 460ci which means my 429ci should drop right in when I'm done building it. I know you're wondering "why would he replace a 460 with a 429?". Simply because it's cooler.... and not an emissions motor. [evil]
Anyway this would solve the delimma I've been playing in my head over to go 4X4 or rod it. It was important to know how I was going to build the engine. So I'll be building it for more bottom end and solid reliabity.... eventually.
On to the Chassis I'm gonna have to cut about two feet out of the wheel base, which shouldn't be a problem since I think those had pretty straight level frames. Plus the body mounts won't matter as I'll have to custom locate them all anyway. I'm thinking of fabbing the mounts to provide a a 2 inch body lift with maybe a 4 inch suspension lift for an over all lift of 6 inches. Enough to look right but not so much that people wonder if I'm compensating for something. ;) [laugh]
Anyhow This is good news and could actually mean I could have my truck on the road a lot earlier than expected. If that is the case, I may put off buying a car and try to do it why I have my <eh-hm> rental(thanks Mom). Anyhow I need to decide on a price with my brother, and hopefully get this ball rolling. [thumbsup]
Sounds like a fun project...let me know when you are good to go [thumbsup]
That will be very cool. I am trying to envision it. Is Kyle's 350 drivable or will you need me to haul it down there to you?

It'll look the same only a little taller. It isn't on the road right now, so I'll have to figure some logistics out. I'll let you know when it's closer to being ready.
