How are the roads in Romania?
Hi everyone,
I could try to answer that (good to see that I'm not the only guy from Romania here). The road question is quite a paradox here: on the one hand, I have ridden some of the best roads Europe has to offer (never been to the US) and clearly Romania has some of the nicest, fun and demanding mountain roads in the old world, along Austria and Switzerland. On the other hand some of them are in an "advanced state of decay", mostly because the local authorities don't see their potential. Though, that's not the biggest issue. The worse problem is motorcycle awareness.
Anyway, if you ever come this way I recommend the mountain roads of Transylvania... Actually, stick ONLY to Transylvania.
As for me, here is a quick "2 wheels Curriculum Vitae": born in Romania, raised mostly in Belgium, European hybrid (Austrian mother, Romanian father), I've decided to move to Romania for a few years at least. As you can see, owned only Monsters so far, but I got my license only 4 years ago so there is room for more. I have ridden a few other bikes, none made me fell like the Monster does (the Tuono came close). Love V2s L2s (though I'm considering an MV Agusta...), Italian style and design, pretty sure I'll never own a jap. bike... That's it, in brief.
Cheers!
Where are you guys in Romania? My ex-wife is from Braila, and I spent a bit of time there, Brasov and Constanta.

We're both from Bucharest (members of the first and only official Ducati Club in Romania - DesmoRiders Romania: http://desmoriders.ro/ (http://desmoriders.ro/) ;D). That's about 160km (100mi) south of Brasov (Kronstadt) and 220km (135mi) west of Constanta.
If you ever come by Brasov again, you could pay us a visit. Or we could get to you there. One of the very best riding roads in Romania is between Brasov and Bucharest (second only to the Transfagarasan - if you saw TopGear S14 Ep1). I've highlighted it here:

The only bad thing about it is that it is an alternative road for the European E60, and all the trucks over 7.5t are supposed to take it. Then again, if you don't get stuck behind a truck, it's a
must ride!
Thanks, but I doubt I'll be making it back that way. Especially seeing how the ex is an ex. ;D
