Title: Hello from DFW
Post by: Shorts on July 27, 2009, 02:41:13 PM
I've poked around the forums before but now relocated and looking to buy  [thumbsup]  We sold our bikes back in Japan before the move.  DH got his new-to-him bike last week, 'm shopping for mine.

Looking at Monsters, it will be my 2nd bike and the 2nd Ducati to live in the garage.  An '01 ST2 was the intro into Ducatis and wow, it was fun having it around.

Well, yall ride safe

Welcome to the DMF, good luck with the bike shopping. [thumbsup]

When you get a chance, check in with the Monster Women (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=25.0) forum and also your local group, DFWM (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=30.0).

Is there a particular model you are looking at?  What bike did your husband get?

Looking forward to the updates. ;D

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

I'm interested in the Monster 620-750.  I've done my homework before for the models, then dropped off for a while for 'life', but I'm back again  ;D

From what I gather I can't go wrong with a 620.  And the 750 will be about the same numbers as the 620.  The 695 has better hp but there's been chatter about them running hot/not right (not all) but some.

This time DH wanted to go back to a cruiser  :-X  I know, I know......   lol  But I think it's happening that he's really feeling how "different" it is.  We were out last week and came up to a 90* hard left hander.  Came up to it at speed like normal but things went wrong.  Shall I say, the floor boards went wrong  [roll]  They didn't let the bike lean for as much as we needed to get through the corner.  He got off the throttle  as much as he could since the shoulder edge was coming up real fast.  I remember thinking "Well shoot, he did everything right!".  heh It was all slow motion and we got right up to the edge with barely enough room to get through.

Since then, he's been skittish on curves with those floorboards on.  I don't blame him.  We came off from riding a lot of mountains back in Japan so we're use to twisties and 'feelin' it', you know?

DRASTIC clearance difference and he's got to go oddly slow.  It may kill me if we're out for spirited rides once I get my bike and I'm leading the way.   [cheeky]
