Title: Canterbury Park Aug. 9 feed and ride.
Post by: Major Slow on August 04, 2009, 08:21:41 AM
There seems to be some interest in seeing the Camelus bactrianus or perhaps, because they are non specific, the Camelus dromedarius this sunday. The beautiful Jennifer has suggested that we serve up some grilled fare at our house. We will throw brats, burgers and chicken on the grill about 11:30. We can ride over whenever the mood strikes to watch.

Captain Slow? Are you a fan of James May?

Watching camels and ostriches race sounds like fun but Monstergirl and myself will be on horseback in the Rocky Mountains on that day. I will also hopefully find a good 4X4 trail for the FJ Cruiser [evil]

Have fun!

You can't?  I thought Schwanger said you could.

Either way, I think we can probably figure out a way to gamble amongst ourselves.

I was mistaken, they aren't taking bets for these.

it would be too hard to figure out the odds.  Not to many people follow camel and ostrich racing i guess.  I think it would be fun to bet anyways, levels the playing, i mean beting, field I might see you guys out there, mmm lions tap mmmm [bacon]

If you kids really want to gamble, just bet on what parts fall off of Mo's bike on the way there. ;)

Ahm ahm I believe that you are racing one of his bikes arn't you?  Better check it over.  Poor Mo  it seems like every post ends in a bashing of Mo.  I'm going to turn this trend around by posting the following;  Damn Mo those are nice parts that fall off your bike. [cheeky] [bacon]

Lion's Tap makes the best burgers in the state.  They are also now within about 5 minutes of my new house...

Can't wait for ostrich races.  This is going to be off the hook.

sorry to bring the thread back on topic...

Looks like admission is only $5 for general seating.  Could that be right?  Also should we bring some stuff to share at the cookout?

No need. If you want to bring something; feel free. It is always difficult to carry food on these bikes.

We will have grilling stuff, some chips and salsa and maybe some other stuff depending on how industrious we feel.

Despite the sunscreen I was eventually able to get my hands on, I still look a little bit like a lobster. :-/  heh  Needless to say we didn't go back inside *or* find shaded seats for quite some time.  We did, however, see both the ostriches and camels. :)
