G'day Everyone,
I have an S4RS and would like to know if anyone can recommend a good alarm system.
Have a good one.
Cheers

If you can get them there, the Gorilla full system is nice. Mounting it might be hard as the box is large-ish, but the paging mechanism (calls you if the alarm is tripped) is nice.
I cut a hole in my airbox bottom and mounted it there. Lots of epoxy to reseal it.
Hi Greg,
Welcome to Oz Monsters!
Sorry can't help with alarm recommendations, but I am curious to understand why those with alarms fitted see the virtue of them... I mean, most people hear an alarm sounding and don't do anything about it. I always figured that a physical deterrent - a large chain, or even better the bike in a lockup with a big chain is the best insurance next to a comprehensive policy for agreed value to cover its replacement, but I'm keen to hear what others think..
Cheers
BTW, seems we might have a few people from Cairns these days, very cool.
I got an alarm because I lived in NYC at the time. It was perfect as it was the paging variety, so even though I had the bike under a cover and chained to a sidewalk, a "friendly" new yorker might decide it needed a good pissing-on. Moving the cover would trigger the alarm and I had just enough time to stick my head out the window and yell at them.
Plus, I got a 10% reduction in my insurance.

Lucky for you that you guys have to insure bikes, here in Panama there's no motorcycle insurance, unless is a company that owns a bunch of 125s for inner city courrier service...usually, my bike is parked away from me where i cannot see it...
G'day Everyone
Thanks for the info.
I agree with the big chain approach. I am just looking for additional security when traveling and staying overnight in hotels and pubs. Not so much to scare them off, more to wake me up.
Cheers
If that's all, then check out the various motion sensor alarms.
I have one made by Xena -- it's a disk lock, so it clamps onto the rotor. Any definite motion of the bike and it chirps -- 105 db of chirp. Another move in 5 seconds and it goes bonkers.

Yeah, I have a zena disc loc and it's plenty loud. it's reasonably heavy weight, and was about $80-100 from memory.
