Just did my 12k service, needed no valve adjustment.
Changed the belts and they adjusted the CO, said it was running a little rich.
Changed the brake and clutch fluid, adjusted the TPS, changed the oil and plugs.
Grand total, 800.
$800 is what you paid to the dealership?
Did they change the fork oil?
Steering bearings?
Air filter?
Fuel filter?

If that's all they did, you might experience a little pain while seated. :D
That's all they did,
belts alone were $164. We get raped here in Canada, I called a dealership in Montreal and Toronto and they were the same price.
I'm buying tools and doing it myself.
Around $800 is what the dealer by me (CT) quoted for 6k with belts. It was going to be a close to a grand if they had to adjust the valves. I ended up doing it myself but wouldn't have been able to adjust the fueling and TPS to fix the rich condition.
Also try and track down a factory manual for your bike because I found the list to be different then the Haynes book or websites.
Example you're not going to have to check or adjust levels in your battery because it is sealed. On top of that I think some things like fuel filter would be over kill on a 2007. Maybe if you had a late 90's monster that is just getting to 12k it would be a different story.
That is just my opinion I'm sure there are many school of thought on these services.
thats pretty expensive. i spent $250 on my 12k. :P and ended up with an oil leak cause i put a washer the wrong way. [laugh] [bang]

Were you talking $800US or $800CAD?
JM
Had me freakin' for a minute there.
$800 Canadian, that's like $50 American, right?
I paid 1,100 for mine though my bike ran so horribly before it was worth it. They did do the full list, the bike is fantastic now, finally after it running _ok_ to piss poor the entire 4 years I've had it.
Mine is running great now too, would stall out if it wasn't warmed up real well.
I find I can take off the fast idle in a few minutes. Took forever before.
Idles at about 1100 to 1200 now as well.
