Title: Ft. Lauderdale Checking In
Post by: TwoWheelDuke on August 19, 2009, 02:01:49 PM
Greetings Monster Forum.

I guess you could say I came over from "the other forum."  I've had gixxers since 04 and spend most of my online time at www.gixxer.com (//http://) even though they've been assimilated for a long time now.  The founder of GDC started a new site that got shut down by vertical stroke, and he posted a video that somebody here made with the Hitler dub-over.

Since I'm a Ducati fan and am seriously considering a Monster for the street after the 750 sells, I figured I'd sign up here to help fight the power  [thumbsup]

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I've got a 2006 GSX-R 750 (up for sale) as well as a DRZ-400S/SM and a Thumpstar 125 "spec" supermoto race bike.  My dad has a '75 860GT, a 996, a 900FE, and an ST2.  At least I get a little seat time on Ducatis here and there.

Welcome to the DMF, hope you enjoy yourself here.  I still laugh every time I watch that video. ;D

Make sure you check in with the South Florida Ducati Brigade (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=46.0) when you get a chance.

Oh, and feel free to post pictures of any of your bikes, we'd love to see them. [thumbsup]

Since you asked, here's some pics.  I think I know some of the S. Florida Brigade already, since I'm a member of DOCOCSF.  They may remember some of these pics as the damn jap bikes that hang around with them sometimes.

This is me at Deal's gap last year on the 750, stuck behind  Goldwing Trikes.

And now that it has a slipon.

Here's the DRZ.

Then there's the Thumpstar.

Touring on Dad's ST2.  What'd I do with that damn cd with the real version?

I need to sell the 750, get a house, recover financially from that, then maybe I can have a Duc of my own.  Is it blasphemy here to say I'd consider a Hypermotard or Multistrada over a Monster?

Not at all, lots of fans of both here.  But if you get a MultiStroodle you will get lots of teasing about the looks. ;)

I really like the S2R, and I came close to getting one before the DRZ.  The only problem is that it was a trade deal on Craigslist, the guy wanted a faired I4, and the fool that had this S2R seemed to think it was made of solid gold and that it was personally blessed by the pope before it left Italy.  His counter-offer was laughable.  I saw the same bike at a local Suzuki dealership, I guess he finally settled for trading it in.  For what they gave him as a trade-in, he would have been much better off with my offer.  Oh well.

Yeah, there's some pretty ridiculous listings here and there on ebay and CL.  The classifieds here tend to be more sane.
