Alrighty peoples consider the ball rolling ...
Quote from: Betty on January 09, 2009, 12:41:18 PM
Well this seemed to work quite well last year. By setting a few dates up front, people can add them to their diaries early and plan around it rather than getting a last minute call and being unable to make it.
Granted we have some variety in machines and rider ability, but these days are not about that - everybody generally knows their relative place in the group and can ride within their limits. As everybody knows what to expect from the outset, it becomes more of a social occassion (read 'big group') and the day is conducted accordingly - so the distances are not too long and sub-groups emerge without too great an impact on the larger group.
This would give dates of:
7th February (Monster Beach Party?)
4th April
6th June (Queen's birthday weekend)
1st August
3rd October (labour day weekend) 26th September
5th December
Anybody care to add to or dispute Matty's ideas?

You called it, I'll be there for it.
Hows about we go South or South West.
Pie shop, K.V. and beyond.
Or Bathurst area as the last time people went there wasn't many in attendance.
Wow! 16 people have viewed, but no comments... alrighty then, sounds like a good plan re. date.
I'll try my best to make it, but I may piss off O/S at the last minute though ! [bang]
I like the idea of the out-west trip. Haven't done that particular route yet, but happy to go anywhere really. [moto]
How about Bathurst then via Oberon to Jenolan Caves, then back via either Great western or Bells Line. (http://tinyurl.com/nwfbn3) Someone was telling me that the Oberon road has been resurfaced recently and is in pretty good nick.
Longer, shorter, elsewhere, I'm not fussed. As long as Parra isnt playing in a Final on that day, I'll be there.
Hi my names Matty third time viewer first time posting!
The Caves and Oberon sound picture perfect to me.
Just as long as us 4R folks can get fuel and not a dribble before
the place mysteriously burns down hours later!
So map it Craigo and let's see how it looks.
Craigs route sounds good to me.
I have not been to Bathurst since primary school. Gold Panning & hot laps in a bus - What a joyous exercise.................
Unfortunately, you will not be graced by the goldFiSh presence!
Dory expected any day at this stage...... Have a good ride without me [thumbsup]
You will be much missed on the day Goldie, you are the beans & froth of the OzMonsters.
i think that's a compliment, if not, I'm taking it that way anyway.....
Looks good Bathurst via the Bells line.
Drove the bells line on sunday only 80kph most of the way and patrolled [leo] they were out in force all day.
Only 145klm back to lithgow via Oberon with detour to Jenolan.
With fuel at Oberon if needed.
Will be there if my other proposed venture to Qld doesn't happen.
Cause it is, just replaced Heart & Soul with more appropriate terms.
Should I have used, Tamper & Grinder?
I'll take tamper and grinder! "Froth" conjurs up "bad cappuccino at trucker tucker truck stop" images in my brain, but I'll excuse that from you, given that you are not an espresso man!

yep, had me confused too !! Tamper & Grinder Matty. That's got my vote as well !!
and before all the "bloody latte drinking..." comments come out - we drink espresso ! [drink]
Sorry you know I'm not a drinker of the finely ground nectar.
Sadly I'm out...... :'(
Will be down south of the border that weekend....... 8)
South of the border hey!
Seeing any of the crowd down there.

Considering we have a few new members who may or may not be considering joining in on this ride I thought it might be worth adding a bit of info on group riding. While I don't necessarily agree with everything written in the article it does raise some good points and items worth considering:
http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=117.msg0#new (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=117.msg0#new)
I thought it was relevant as I have never felt pressured to perform on an Ozmo run. Ego is something lacking in this group, so if you were thinking about coming along but were nervous particularly when you hear about some of these guys doing track sessions ... don't be!
Get out there ride to your own pace and enjoy.
Oh yeah and if you have a read of the link remember it is written for Seppos [cheeky]
Well I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the enthusiasm at the moment, the responses so far:
. Mostro will be there if he is not pissed off
. Craigo is yet to realise the NSL finished years ago and Parramatta Power weren't admitted to the a-league who have their finals in Feb. not Sept.
. Matty will bring extra batteries in case he runs out of fuel because he plans on being creative
. Six will be wearing short pants and carrying pans
. Goldie is trying to move the birth centre to Bathurst hospital just in case
. Rob may be getting engaged in Qld
. Big T will be cow-tipping in Meccico
So I think there is two definites: Matty & Six95
Anybody else?
Maybe it's a slow start Betty.
Il need to check if I have a track day related event on [roll]
BTW do I need a monster to join in on this ride .

Not necessarily.
I am a maybe , asking for an RDO
where exactly is this ride and meeting place?
Southern run Dez.
No firm meeting place at this point in time.
Most likely going to take in the RNP, Old Princess to Bulli round to Keira and on to Mac Pass.
From there it will depend on mood/time/people as to heading further a-field.

Got a new Helmet for fathers day might be able to keep up now :P
and should have my new chain and sprockets by then.
What happened with Bathurst. :(
Sorry scratch my previous post.
Bathurst that's right!
Oops see what happens when you twiddle your thumbs too long.
Just to repeat Bathurst via Caves Jenolan etc... Bells Line upon the return.
Mt schedule is reasonably clear ATM. I am a definate maybe. I literally have nolt had a ride for about 3 months so go easy on me fellas. I am hanging for a ride. Bathurst will be tops.

We can hang together Tri ,I've been riding like a granny on the last road rides :-[
You need tyres before your gonna head to Bathurst on the Smart Dock.
It will give you more confidence and you might be able to ride like an Auntie instead of a Granny.
yeh ya granny Dock, that just for me to do.
Hey all.
I'm in for this one.
Are we doing a Rouse Hill Maccas meeting point?
Andy
Don't know Andy.
Nothing really set yet as we don't know who's coming and we're they're coming from.
So yes maybe Rouse Hill Macca's.
But maybe Blaxland tourist stop before heading along the Gt Western.
Watch this space.
ok guys first i thought i bump this up, and second for those who haven't rode with me since the acco, i do ride a bit slower now days, still can't find my "MOJO" :'(, it has gone missing somewhere. So i might just hold you guys up a bit. i also tire a bit too so lunch time i might need a granny nap or some coke.
To follow up ... would one of you techie/mapping types care to set out a route?
Also if anybody is feeling a bit apprehensive about coming along just look at the number of granny posts on here at the moment ... no pressure. So if you were thinking of coming along but didn't want to 'hold-up the group' don't worry about it ... could be the perfect ride. But if a few want to 'go for a run' we are sensible enough to sort out some meeting places.
It is also possible that the Boss and I may not make the full distance. The size of the scar indicates more than just a spleen was removed and as she mentioned I think they may have nicked out a bit of her riding mojo as well ... an all day ride might get a bit too much, we'll see how we go.

I'd do a mappy thing, but I think that Matty has the route all in his head - same as the last Jenolan run I thought or maybe a bit different ?
"sensible enough" ???? enuf said
It's all about a good day out, not road racing, so everyone should feel comfortable to join.
ps. better bloody ring about my bike...still haven't got it back and not bringing the Sherpa.

I am a maybe (family constraints pending) and also not sure about an all day ride, so depending on route and meeting place and your return time Jukie/Betty you may have some company for the return trip.
dez
ok fine with us, alway like to have some others riding with us. [thumbsup]
We don't have to be out all day folks.
It is up to us of course and we don't have to head out to Bathurst if it's going to be too far for some/most.
It can be postponed till we can all stay togther.
We can do a little run Sth as per my recent "faux par" in this thread.
The list so far is
Matty
Andy
Betty
Jukie
Mostro900 (not Sherpa)
Serious Groper
Dezmonster (maybe)

Hey Jukie not a problem being an old fart i'm quite happy to ride at the posted speed limits [moto] and i could be up for a grandpa nap as well.
Matty don't put too much weight on our situation we will always have a decent ride just to get to the start point. I was however, starting to look at accom options up in the mountains ... will talk to the Boss when I get home.
I'm keen for the Bathurst/Jenolan run. Done both north and south many times, so a westerly run should be a nice little change. As per original plans anyway.

I am guessing a departure might be by 9am from Macca's, so arrive by 8:30-ish fuel up and be ready to roll.
However there is a predicted dust/wind storm coming for Saturday again so riding might be a challenge.
I may be up for this - will confirm Friday night.
Is there a meeting spot/time for southern riders?
Cheers

Hey Jukie depends on how flash you like it, i stayed here http://www.jenolancaravanpark.com.au/ (http://www.jenolancaravanpark.com.au/) in a cabin a few years back. [thumbsup] Not with a bike though.
I like cabins as you park right at the door and lock up your bikes.
And reasonably priced.
Meals avaiable at the pub.
Possibly not many or any indigenous inhabitants in Oberon that would want a yellow DUC [laugh]
More so in the bigger towns ,eg Bathurst which i have heard can be a risk.
But hey no Guarratee any were your gear is safe these days. >:(

Dude, if Parra win, I will have a hangover, if Parra lose, I will have a hangover. Either way, I'll be there. MAN UP MATTY!1! [moto] ;)
+1 [drink]
Macca's tomorrow morning - see you there [thumbsup]
ok guys i know the weather up here is a bit foggy/dusty but not that bad, and no real wind, so we will see you guys there as we have accommodation now. whats the weather in sydney like. now Craig might be a bit dodgy but at least he will be happy.
Hey Jukie that ain't fog it's dust and not real good and blowing a gale here
Very disappointing but i think i will be out. :'(
can we reschedule
ok rob thanks for that. what is everyone else doing
Looking out the window the visibility has got worse ,bloody pathetic
i can't hardly even see the hills here on the coast and possibly a lot worse out Windsor and the mountains.
it's the second worst dust storm in history
Seriously should consider reschedule.as it won't be fun. :'(
ok what im thinking if people want to pullout thats ok. or we can decide at the meeting point.
ok guys we are going to leave at 07:00 and we can decide what to do at maccas. i know some of you guys might not read this until we have already gone, but we will wait around for a bit to make sure everyone knows what we are doing.
Not a great day for it. Bloody windy and dusty counts me out in. Yes, I am being soft hard!! [moto]
well, thought I would ride up and say hello to the gang and well, ended up going for a short ride through a freezer.
bloody cold winds and little balls of ice/snow up in the blue mountains. Sure enough by Lithgow it was decided that pizza in a warm environment was the way to go...off to Hartley we went.
Great meeting a few new faces and a reasonably enjoyable day - even if I couldn't feel my fingers for a fair bit of it !
No just sensible in my books.
No point in riding when conditions aren't friendly.
no dust today.
in summary: lots of wind. and hail. and snow. and cold. and more cold. then pizza. then more cold. then home. ;D
So cold then!
Glad you all had a good day.
just came back from dinner in wentworth falls as we walk 10 minutes in the freezing cold, but now near a wood fire hhmmmm warm

Any photos?
I couldnt even begin to imagine all the obscenities coming out of your mouth Craigo when riding through those conditions.
Sounds like a normal day in Victoria!
we will post some pics when we get home sometime today

The fog comment is what you call wishful thinking ... she knew exactly what it was.

Oh c'mon it wasn't that cold. Once I put my inner-gloves and jumper on at Lithgow it was almost toasty.
Must say though, the perforations in the leathers work a treat [roll]

By way of comparison this 10 minute walk to the pub was rather ... umm ... refreshing. My arms were aching by the time we got back ... if I hadn't held on as tight as I did I could have lost her. Blowing like a bastard it was.

This one really cracked me up ... Craigo swearing ... no make the beast with two backsing way!
OK so without our resident snapper in attendance I kinda forgot I was supposed to take photos. Belatedly and quickly snapped a couple without much thought until Ivan got a little creative. Apologies for the general crappiness.

How did the rear tyre hold up for the way home?
Hi guys,
Sorry its taken so long to get back on here and put in my 2c,
Betty, No probs, stopped off at katoomba to chech the pressure it had dropped a couple of Psi but nothing too serious so I topped her up again and rode all the way home.
(maybe it wasn't flat, maybe it just had Shrinkage cause it was so friggin cold. I left home with only my leathers and a t shirt.
Thanks for the company everyone, gotta do it more often though. When Craigo noticed the spots of surface rust on my chain i figured I gotta get it out more (and oil the chain [roll])
See you all soon! Maybe a OZMO track day? Or maybe a Super bike school?
P.S. Incase I dont check back in for a while, good luck with the iminent birth of the little one Craigo and Stef! [thumbsup]
