June 7th
I entered the toasty bike (and the 1098 just for kicks) into a Rides and Rods, bike and car show.

I'm not really expecting to win anything, I'm really just entering because the entry money goes to a worthy charity, and I thought it would be a fun way to spend the day.
on the application section under club affiliation... I wrote Ducati Monster Forum 8)
that does sound like a cool way to spend the day [thumbsup]
have fun :)
Where's the Rides and Rods, bike and car show being held at?
Sound like fun.
That bike is sssssssooooooooo beautiful [thumbsup]

I have to agree. You may do better in the show than you expect. Let us know how you do and more pics.
Bike looks nice! Of course tasteful bikes rarely win contests like that. You're gonna need some graphics and a fat rear tire ;)

And you should stretch the swingarm 14", then chrome it. 8)
A short story about the creation of the TE may be worth some points ;D

in a big ol parking lot near one of the local Chuys eateries out on Rosedale Hwy
The fuel issue is still here. John may be up this weekend to help address it. If not.... I'm gonna clean both bikes up really good, and truck them in. So the fuel issue wont be a problem. I'm sure to be the only Italian entry there, so I should stand out a lil....that and I'm goofy looking [laugh]
If you could get Toasty there as well, that'd be AWESOME!
Remember what happened the last time we tried something like that?

Well, maybe you'll at least win the Italian category then...if you can convince them it's not a Japanese Buell!!
Do you have anymore pics of that bike posted anywhere? Super clean!

Man that is gorgeous! John, Stu, Steve, everyone involved made that BEAUTIFUL!
Wow, she really did turn out beautiful...didn't she? Still gets me a little verklempt just thinking about the love that went into that bike. :)
T
That is a fantastic bike, and for those of us who weren't around when that bike was put together, it's a really, really great story. [thumbsup] [beer]
I do have one general question...
Are bike shows any better than car shows?
I have a classic Mustang I've entered in a few shows and they are the most awful way to spend a day. Way too many people just sitting on chairs next to their cars, the local club either wins everything or nothing, and you have "golden oldies" piped into the proceedings via a lousy PA system. I truly hope to never, ever, ever, ever hear "Mustang Sally" EVER again my lifetime. Oh yeah, most owners are fat, boring, middle-aged white guys.
Sorry - got on a rant there... 8)
Am I close to correct in thinking bike shows are a more limited audience, and thus, more focused? Translation - not boring?
If yours is anything like my wife's pageants, watch your back!! [cheeky]
That monster is sooooo nice [thumbsup]
Don't forget to armor-all the tires :P
(No, don't actually do that)

fun day
I was the odd man out. There were only Harleys and Hondas....nothing else.
I didn't win shit (never saw a judge stop by to judge [roll] )
met a few nice people
answered a ton of dumb questions (yes.... I like Ducatis)
stopped one person who thought the 1098 was a riding toy >:(
was thanked by quite of few people for bringing something different out to look at.
met another in-town monster owner (her husband owns a Triumph)
had some good food
helped a good charity
and even though they will never read this.... I wanted to again, thank the three guys who helped put the bikes back into the truck ( they were Mongols ) [thumbsup]
Yeesh, I'd have thought you would have the European bike award no sweat. ;D Good stuff! [thumbsup]
did you make the WaRNING sign? [laugh]

naaaa.... they were part of the sign in process. But I think I was the only person with a bike who put it on the bike. I saw then on most of the cars.
I didnt get any pics of the cars.... I was too afraid to leave the bikes. I had to stop one guy from think'n it was something he could sit on (I'm not a f'n dealership dumbass)
it was a cool show, because most of all the things in it, were daily drivers (bikes and cars) There were even a few race cars around, dragsters, modified super stock dirt cars...lots of cool stuff. An old friend, even had his racing lawnmowers out there.

It's a bit disappointing it didn't get
some kind of award but then I guess it was a bit out of it's element in amongst Harleys and Goldwings.
Oh well....Probably still not a bad way to spend a day. Just a different kind of people 8) .
(Hell. I even rode with about 300 Harley types in a cancer ride two weeks ago. It was a good day and I found a guy on a 748 and another guy on a beautiful 900SS)
Oh...and about this:
Quotestopped one person who thought the 1098 was a riding toy
Isn't that kinda the truth? ;D

yup, with me sitting there. he strolls up from behind with his friend, talking about how sick the 1098 is, reaches for the handlebars and starts to throw a leg over. >:( hold on dumb ass...... you got wallet full of cash there?
