Even if you dont plan on doing the trackday, it would make for a good day ride down and back [moto]

T, I was thinking of going down a day early to check out some land on Bolivar (now it's an) Island  :o  that a family member wants to sell. I thought about taking the bikes down to the track maybe real early Saturday locking everything up tight and riding the trip 9 down to the island that afternoon and staying at a hotel Saturday night and back up to the track on Sunday and stay in the RV Sunday night. Let's talk.

I'm sure I'm going to sound like a broken record here preaching to the choir but I would truly suggest to everyone to sign up for a track day for the betterment of you're own riding skills. I've ridden for almost 40 years now and am always learning new things about riding I didn't know. Keeping on my toes has also kept me healthy and alive. Learning is what keeps our minds keen. It is easy to become complacent in our riding thinking we know all we need to know about riding a bike. It has come to the forefront of my mind more as of late in lieu of Charles' death that I need to be more vigilant and aware.

You don't have to sign up for a track day if you want to take the Motorcycle Safety course Either one will hone your skills. If we had a regular group who go tracking we would all be as a group and individually better riders. We all know how much fun it is to do a track day. I suggest this in lieu of a street ride as an alternative for those who don't like to take the chance of riding on the roads/traffic in the city. You get much more enjoyment riding the track I think because you don't have to think about the other guy so much. And considering how many we have in this group it would be just a great time to get together.

Reading Carlo's posts about his track days made me want to get into it even more. In that vein of thought I will try to ride  more track days and maybe less street riding from now on. I would love to see more of this group get involved in them as well. We have all splintered off in different directions this year and that saddens me because I like spending loads of my free time with all you peeps. So, if you can do it (in these financial down times) please post up your intentions so we can coordinate a gathering soon.

This is just some of my thoughts. Sorry if the dissertation is long-winded  [moto]

RED, I would like to join in on more of the track days as well.  Can't make TWS but I will look for more track day opportunities in October and November.

Y'all have fun in College Station  [moto]

Had a great day at Texas World Speedway [thumbsup] I ran level 2 and it was full.  Luckily it was a 2.9 mile track.  [bacon]  There were lots of wrecks though, the level 4 racer group had a wreck in every session except 2 and and the there was also one in level 1 and level 2.  The track is fast, with 15 corners.  Even the front straight is banked.  I did really well for my skill level and I seem to be improving every trackday.  I spent an entire session with an instructor, I would follow him, he would follow me.... We got back to the paddock and he said I had excellent corner speed, my lines were good and I seemed really smooth even at faster paces.  So I was happy.  [moto]  He basically just told me to keep riding the way I am and I'll be progressing to L3 very soon.

Time has not been in my favor lately so I'm just now posting up some stuff quickly. Sorry but I do have more pics that I'll get on tonight. Here's one video before my instructor lap. I will post up the instructor lap tonight after work. Just after the last part of the video my instructor came up. He told me later that my speed was great, my cornering was coming along well, my toes were not as stuck out and my line is more consistent. Except for the squids that kept crashing the day was great. It was great being at the track with Tommy because we became better friends. All was good.

Next track day has been booked for the AMS Sept. 24th with a RideSmart at Cresson to follow that weekend.
