Title: Greetings from the Beach (Long Beach, CA)
Post by: fastereddi on September 22, 2009, 04:31:34 PM
Pleased to meet you:
So I've just (Friday) gotten the bike of my dreams - an  010 red 696, (despite protest from better 1/2, who thinks I'm in mid-life crisis #14) . It was delivered to me, since I wouldn't ride it home from dealer. My last motorcycle was a Yamaha RD-400, which I sold when it was 2 years from new. That tells some of you how long it's been ... a very long time, indeed. At least I had about 6 years experience back then, most of  which I can't recall, much less pretend I still have the same body/vision/reflexes/courage .. or wife.
Bike now has wopping 8 miles on it by me, mostly around the block. It may be while before I have my legs back, and there is no way I'll use this as a commuter (there are big bridges with 6 foot steel bar sections and no shoulder & main route into port .. lot's of semi's). I'm content staring at it sitting in garage for the most part now.
So we've established that I'm old & new - I'm also a complete gearhead, working as a consultant/geek  for many moons in the 'motive industry. Also SCCA member and boy racer whenever I can (not much). Hope to meet many of you on the road.

welcome to the board fastereddi.
make sure and check out the SOCAL locals group over in the local clubs section.
also, you might check into an MSF course if you want to polish up those rusty skills.

Welcome and congrats on the Duc! :)

I have to agree with herm, I think MSF would be a nice refresher for you, help you feel a bit more comfortable with it. [thumbsup]

Post up in your local board, SoCal Monsters (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=21.0), if you need help finding a good course around you.

Oh and we'd love to see pictures of your mid-life crisis if you have any. ;) ;D

Welcome fastereddi!!!  Former RD400 jockey here as well and in SoCal to boot (see my intro post titled "Hola!").  Not to mention I'm a returning rider too  [thumbsup]

Check out the So Cal Monster group here and maybe we will meet up for a ride sometime.

Oh, I took the MSF course this past weekend  [laugh]
