Looks like sat. will be the nicer of the 2 days this weekend so far.
Anyone up for a ride?
I know several of you did 590, etc last weekend, but I was going to head out in that "general direction" in a very round about sort of way. Heavey emphasis on Sussex county and the roads to the south west of 590 in PA.
I usually leave the house around 8:00 (I live in Morris County, NJ) so I can be home again by 4:00 or so.
Figure about 250 miles for the day w/ stops for food and fuel/leg stretch.
I usually avoid the Hawks nest, as it gets too crowded/crazy up there. Guys push the limit too much and put everyone in danger. I have seen enough near misses to stay away unless I am able to get out mid-week.
you dont want to do 590. I crashed there at on a straight @15ish mph. Its a gravel mine there.
Yeah, I read your crash report...totally sucks. I really wasn't going to hit that road, was just trying to give anyone that was interested a general geographic idea. Many people know that road, but not the other cool roads that are in the area.
Lucky for me, I do. ;D
Ill need to hit you up for a ride...when im back in buisness that is...but dont mind if i lag back and take a lap to clear the area out. [laugh].
Never a problem. [thumbsup] I don't ride all that fast on the street anyway.
if you are at 590, do you mind doing me a favor? Can you snap some pics of the gravel through out the area?
I had planned on avoiding 590 after your crash report, but I will see what I can do.
Rockaduc,
I'm out of town this weekend so won't be able to join you. Any tips on good roads besides 590 you'd be willing to share? Thanks in advance!
I would not necessarily avoid 590 due to the road condition. Pls see last couple posts on this thread which is also about 590: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=119.90 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=119.90)

Hope everyone had a nice, safe ride in the beautiful weather.
Just got back. Great ride!!! Too bad it was solo. Hardly anyone on the roads!!
HeMan, I snapped a couple of pics for you. pm me an email addy so i can send 'em your way. You guys must ahve hit that road just after they laid those patches down b/c when I went through today, they were tamped down and there was traction. They look weird, so it's a little un-nerving, but there was traction on them.
All told, did about 230 miles. Great day!! Now for some college football.

Thank you sir! Glad you had a good ride out this past weekend!

The trick, of course, is knowing how to link 'em up to each other for the best combo of food/fuel stops.
