Title: nice brisk ride this morning!
Post by: svoloch on September 25, 2009, 06:22:20 AM
53 degrees on the ride in...  beautiful!  perfect weather.  makes me a bit sad, as it reminds me that in a few months, there will be a lot less bikes on the road.  Just me and a host of other idiots too stubborn to pursue sensible transportation.

the underseat heater worked really well today, and I already am sensing a return of that winter mentality, when I start engineering in my brain complicated ducting to funnel header heat directly to my balls.

Yup, I thought the same thing about the great weather on the ride in.  [thumbsup]

Gerbing's heated gloves are part of my plan for the cold riding months.

Little cooler up north of you guys in OK. Weird, it went from summer to fall right away. What is this underseat heater you speak of?  ???

I'd guess exhaust.   ;D

The 999's have a feature where header and exhaust heat is redirected at your a$$ and the back of your legs.  This is a really nice feature in fall/winter, however there is a missing "off" switch that makes summer riding a bit toasty.  Especially in my summery Perry Ellis riding slacks.

I think I'll be investing in some Gerbing items this year. The heated grips on the Beemer are nice but they're not hot enough to reach through to the windy side of my fists.  [laugh]  I think I'll be looking for a vest too.

I'm old and weak. I don't even ride my 999 during the blazing hot summer months just for the reasons mentioned. Go ahead and laugh but it can really suck! Lisa will vouch. [thumbsup] Not the tough young stud muffin like Svoloch! [laugh] Hey, as a matter of fact Svoloch be won't be anymore after October 3rd!! It all turns to shit after 40!! [coffee]

Speaking of B-days, we just missed DLS/Scott's birthday yesterday! [bang] Happy belated birthday mountain man!! How is it out there at 8,000 feet in New Mexico? You've been awfully quiet... got electricity yet? ;D

Does yours have catalytic converters?
They have them on the 1098/1198 etc. now and it makes it even hotter on the inside of your thigh. I had my slacks on at lunch today at stoplights and it was actually painful, not just uncomfortable (I have leather overpants for to/from work). The full exhaust runs much cooler.

Yes on the cat.   At some point need to get a full system in there to replace it, but neither of my kids fight well enough to go to public school.

I use a fleece-lined mitten to keep The Boys warm in winter.   [cheeky]

I think we should have an ALL-Trip 9 only ride to Urbino's next Thursday night. I count 3 trip 9's (that could be ridden) unless someone else has on hidden under the pig barn somewhere  ;D that can bring out. I'd like to get some pictures of that parade.

Yep, Colin can't fight either! [bang]

I've got the full 57mm system with the Ti box can and I'm not so sure it runs any cooler than a stock 999. Had my full system installed before I ever picked it up so can't really say for sure. And yes, it did get hot again! 95 today??!! What's up with that? >:(

I'll be there.  Triple 9s that I see more frequently are me, you, Lisa, and Fastwin.  There are others, certainly, and Gus recently popped up again, not sure the status of his at present....  Would be great to see a fleet of them there.

What do you say, kids?  get your trip9s on!

There's just one problem with this fiendish plan; I can't make Thursday nights; scheduling conflict with Sam's after-school activities (orchestra rehearsal)... The one day a week he's got something going  [bang]

Well, Thursday's AND Wednesday's come to think of it (more after-school stuff).

CRAP!

Oh well, y'all have fun.   [moto]  I'll manage one of these someday... maybe  :-\

This morning was awesome and tomorrow should be
the same. Hyper today on rear tires' last miles and
mañana on the 695. I'm beginning to learn the HOV
and toll road routes.  [moto]

What has been the time difference driving the HOV vs. the other way? Drive time shortened? New tires! Im' jealous   ???  [laugh]

The HOV on I30 has not helped yet, only a
bit on 635. North Tollway south at 6pm was good th

rear tire as in singular. I don't change my front as it
does not seem to wear. Maybe i use the rear brake
too much or my riding skills are too basic to notice
the need for new front  rubber.

161 goes all the way from I-20 to Plano and who knows where after that.  The only break is in Grand Prairie, where you have to take a jog at the Jefferson St. railroad tracks.  Very little traffic between 20 and the tracks heading north in the morning.  3-4 traffic lights in that section, but they don't go off much.

Is it bad when you hit the "go up" button and sit there and wait, and wait for your slow computer to do something, then realize you were reading the 1st post for that page and it was "up"...... [bang]
