I know we all have bad days and get punchy, but let's try to remember we are all here for a common love and try to be as welcoming and respectful of newcomers ( as well as each other ) as possible. I know my smack talking idiot self was welcomed here with open arms, and I'm certain this is the case most of the time, but we did that guy wrong and he bolted.
Just a thought that we should chill the smack and roll out the red carpet for newbies until they get used to us.
Cheers,
Svoloch
But you're still fair game, right?
Oh hell yes... I'm fair game...
Sweet [thumbsup]
Yep... good point [bang] And I think I can speak for everyone else on this forum when I say, in all sincerity, that it's just so awesome we can still pick on you, without mercy... You're alright, man [evil]

Better to be done wrong than to be ignored.
The DFWM is not for the faint of heart, anyway.
Maybe I'm just off the pace but I don't think he was ever beat up on. I know Jester couldn't figure out the moto-lux name on the tank and did some internet searches. Someone found a link to some "streetfighter" type web site and there was a pic of his bike. He then explained the bike name/daughter's name deal. He went to the other local board and asked a sticky throttle/cable kink question and got some good answers and I guess he decided to stay. He would have gotten good answers here too had he asked. Probably from some of those same folks. Again, it's all good. Great folks on both boards. [thumbsup] What ever makes him happy. He is always welcome back. We are an "acquired taste" after all. Besides, looks like he wants to parlay his connection with the local Ducati group into a bike oriented cafe deal ala Motopia. Could be interesting. [popcorn]
Good point though on weirding new folks out right off the bat. I guess it's a good thing to remember that most of us all know each other (some better than others) and know where we are coming from. Emails and internet messager boards really kind of suck since they totally remove that human/face to face interaction. Is that person just being inquisitive or is that an insult? Are they just joking around? Is that an inside joke? Hard to tell that stuff from a keyboard.
But again, what's really important here is that we can still dish out all the guilt free shit at Svoloch! Especially since he's close to that long greasy downhill slide known as being over 40! [laugh] [drink] [coffee]
Over and out. ;D
bring it on, babys... don't recall being offended by anything said to date. but if you do piss me off, my boys Cher and Cher Alike may come after you...
I thought they were named Lisa and Lisa in the past. Am I dreaming in colors again? [bang]
Cher...
Now that was a good screen name. Jeez, me and my screen-name d'jour nonsense... would think I'd just settle on one and stay with it.
Nah :-*
I think it was just cross-pollination with you and that Sir L'Duc, 'l Sir Smart, Lil Smart Fart...I keep forgetting that guys name now that he's been gone all of a month now. :-\
He moved to Three Rocks, NM. Reminds me of a
name similar to three cats ;D

I for one am going to be very welcoming to all and anyone. I see no reason to ridicule or defame anyone. Lifting each other up will put more fuel in all of our tanks.
You can chalk this one up to me. I'll take the blame. I actually didn't like what he did with the bike, but I'll lie about it next time until they stick around, then I'll give my opinion. :P I've seen a handful of bikes get knocked about paint/decals/mods across the sections of these boards before. Usually people take it in stride. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Next time I'll roll out the red carpet, but someone else is paying to have it cleaned. ;D

Screw it, you were being honest. I don't expect everyone to love what I have done to any of my bikes. Had he posted on the general/national forum I guarantee more than one person would have panned his bike. I don't think you were harsh, maybe he just took it that way, maybe he didn't. You are absolutely right, what he modded on his scooter may not be for everyone but he obviously likes it. Win-win. No losers here.

someone with 69 in their name wants me to be gay. It's best in these situations to take it as a compliment, and so I will [thumbsup]
The humor never stops! [laugh] Just think what motolux is missing! ;D [popcorn]
Does Pat get to be the only pick-on-me volunteer?
Nope. You can get in line right behind me. Wait a minute... are you wanting to also pick on Patrick or be picked on? [laugh]
I don't wanna get in line behind you Brian...apparently that's Svoloch's job.
Zing!
