I've been looking to buy a jet style helmet for the summer, but I am concerned about safety without a chin bar. Well, it seem like Shark has a winner concept! A Full Face that morphs into a Jet style. WOW!! I want one!! What do you guys think? Check it out!

Very nice helmet, you would be better of with it than a real jet pilot helmet. Not only because jet helmets are not full face but because they are not for impact as a motorcycle helmet is.
looks slick although i dunno what a jet helmet is. ??? still cant think of when i wouldnt need a chin bar. whatever fits ya is good [beer]
I dig it [thumbsup]
I would not ride with it in the up position but it could be useful to run into a store and talk to people with out having to take your helmet off.
Anyone know the msrp on it ?
urban makes a similar helmet not as cool but you can check it out here is the link http://smfcycles.com/n350moto.php
I really hate riding here in TN with 90+ degrees and 100% humidity.. if you wear a full face you have your personal head sauna! I don't know how you guys can ride like that. That is why I thought about an open face helmet but with a long visor.
How do you cope with the coming hot days? and what helmets do you use for the really hot days? .. I guess that should be a new thread huh?
icon makes a full-face that is supposed to be vented well to keep to head cool the airframe i think it's called here's a link to it

Great googily moogily that is a slick bucket!!! Can't wait to see how much it costs compared to the other boys. Also wonder how well it will hold up with all those moving parts.
If it's like the other flip up helmets that have been on the market for approx. 8 years now, it will be heavy and awkward. Lots of companies make these. This one looks different only in that the chin bar goes all the way back.
My opinion is that I would never buy one. I've heard stories of the front of flip up helmets breaking away in crashes. I just don't trust them.
I just buy well vented helmets. If I need that extra bit of airflow, I just pop the lens open slightly......that's my two cents
Very similar to the Roof Boxer. I'd like to know more about the latching mechanism.
Looks nice. They took the basic Roof idea and improved it. I'll certainly check one out if/when they show stateside.

cool helmet, and it does the same thing.
also check out www.designerhelmets.com they have a lot of funky stuff over there
Pretty cool engineering, but I wonder about the structural integrity of the movable parts in a crash?!?

I've got an Icon mainframe, and it's a very well vented helmet. As long as I don't get stuck in traffic in the full sun, it feels fine. [moto]
I looked at it and was almost more impressed with that cosmic efin web site! What a trip...
Cool helmet, I really like Sharks, I'm getting a new one within a month. Mika, the chin bar prevents your face from being crushed by object harder than your face during a wreck. Without a chin bar the lower half of you face is vulenerable to whatever extent it sticks past the profile of the helmet. I addition this is one of the hottest strike zones on a helmet as people have a tendency to look at where they are falling. Chin bar = good.
It is a very slick looking helmet. Would I buy it, I don't know.
HAving lowsided and looking at the helmet that was crashed, an open face isn't for me. I'd be missing and eye now. [laugh]
It would be handy in traffic to flip up, but they will have to show its crashability to get me to buy it.
looks like my next commuting helmet. can't wait to give it a try.
"The only helmet carrying a double full-face & jet ECE22-05 homologation."
Sounds like it's supposed to have good crash rating. Have to check webbikeworld and see if they've done a review.

I emailed webbikeworld about this helmet. They said that they intend to review it.
The only reason I am looking at this type of helmet is because I can't stand riding in 90plus degrees humid weather. I have been reading reviews and it seems that the best FULL face helmet for summer time would be the Shoei X-Eleven because it has the BEST ventilation system for a full face. Any other helmets that compete with the Xeleven in air flow?

that is definatley cool, but i always worry about crashing with my face exposed. i used to wear a open face helmet in the eightie's during my moto days, but i smashed out some teeth and that was the end of that. just something to think about [coffee]

Wow,,. that is a good comment.. I sure don't want to smash out my teeth.. I guess I am going to have to shell out 600.00 for an X-eleven.. I looked at the red kagayama with a white stripe,, it will match my S4R.. [moto]
P.s: Dude.. Ron.. much better when you ADD something to a thread instead of the BASHING... let's see some more of that! [thumbsup]

i add stuff plenty ;D i just like to play around sometimes, no harm is meant. :-* i wish there was a way to import all of the stuff i wrote on the old dml, but thats another story [moto]

Well.. I appreciate everyone's comments. It helped me make an informed decision and I DECIDED to buy a FULL face instead of a 3/4 or a modular. After a lot of research and other members comment's I came to the conclusion that the BEST SUMMER FULL FACE... thanks to the most efficient vent system is the Shoei X eleven. I just bought a red Kagayama to match my S4R .. it has a white stripe in the middle.. here is a link

That is a cool helmet...I just don't know why I would want a helmet to do that?
I am already self-conscious about looking like a Star Wars extra walking around with my flat black Arai Profile and Boblebee Metro-Aero back-pack and leathers on.
I hear ya on the hot thing though. Hot is bad here in the Mid-West. Most of the riders I talk to here tell me they really cut back their riding in the full summer heat (100+ temps and 80+% humidity). I have talked to a couple guys who said they ride more in the winter than they do in August!
I WANNA MOVE BACK TO SF RIGHT NOW!
Now that`s one nice looking helmet [thumbsup]
zero four zero - roger, you are clear for takeoff on runway three niner right. altitude resrtictions canceled, happy hunting
You guys seen the J1 helmet from Schubert? Open face helmet, with sun visor, and a chin guard hoop, so it has some chin protection. Perfect for hot days with slow riding, not as safe as a full helmet but safer than an open face one..

Givi X.01
Hands down, coolest helmet out.
