Howdy, I"ve been lurking here for a few weeks as I don't have a Ducati...yet! I'm an offroad guy and race desert and enduros in District 37...SoCal. Been riding offroad and mototcross my whole life. I've always wanted a street machine but just never stepped up for one. This summer I decided I would finally get my street licence and I did.
With the economy the way it is right now I'm reluctant to throw the cash down on a bike but I am looking and hopefully will find something in the used market. I absolutely love the Monster and plan to rent one for the day just to make sure it's a good fit. I am a little on the large side at 6ft 2in and 220lbs so I want to make certain I fit the bike. I assume ther are ways to open the cockpit as with an MX bike...bar risers, etc?
At any rate I enjoy the great information I've seen on this forum and look forward to contributing myself when I'm up and running.

Welcome to the DMF! Maybe someone on the SoCal (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=21.0) board will let you sit on their bike and try it out for size.
The stock version may feel a little small to you but there are a number of mods that you can do to customize the fit, such as aftermarket bars or clip-ons and rearsets.
