Monsterous Arrival 2009
Nothing like a big 'ole line of monsters heading to La Ducati Day in La Honda. We'll arrive in force at noon. If you've ridden with us the last few years, you know it's a blast.
PACE: THIS WILL BE AT PARADE LAP PACE. This is NOT a group ride pace. We're going to stay near the speed limit. With a large group and a lot of unknown riders and with lots of LEOs out there, we're just trying to keep it safe and to keep a large group together. The point is to get from A to B safely, not to get your twisties fix for the day. Do your "normal" ride before or after.
Below are the meet-up spots. If others want to arrange other meet-up points to head to Alice's PM me or post up. We'll see you at Alice's and then at LDD.
ALICE's MEET-UP: Arrive at Alice's at 11:15. Leave Alice's (35 & 84) at 11:45 for LDD. That'll get us to LDD around noon. [thumbsup] Map to Alice's (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=35+and+84,+sky+londa,+ca&ie=UTF8&ll=37.394437,-122.262897&spn=0.030958,0.076904&z=14&iwloc=D)
SF Pre-Meet. A group will be leaving from Zeitgeist in SF. Meet at 10:00ish. Kickstands up at 10:30. Make sure you are gased up. We will leave your ass behind if you're later than 10:30. Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=duboce+and+valencia,+san+francisco+ca&sll=37.707166,-121.884706&sspn=0.007707,0.019226&ie=UTF8&ll=37.770664,-122.422371&spn=0.007701,0.019226&z=16&iwloc=addr).
South Bay Pre-Meet. 76 Station in Saratoga. Kickstands up at 10:45. Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=14395+Big+Basin+Way,+Saratoga,+CA&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=32.610437,76.904297&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=14395+Big+Basin+Way,+Saratoga,+Santa+Clara,+California+95070&ll=37.260443,-122.03227&spn=0.007651,0.013583&t=h&z=16).
P.S. Bring your friends, non-Monster or non-Ducs. We don't care. 'course I can't guarantee we won't stick your ass in the back of the line. ;D
If you have a relationship with a shop, dealer or moto-friendly location, please spread the word. Let's get as many monsters out there are possible.
I'll be at the SF meeting spot. Giddy-up.
grazie spidey, for organizing the ride-in. [thumbsup]
I'm down. I can do either Alice's or Saratoga.
I did this ride in reverse twice last week. :)
I'll be coming in from the West 8)
Out, unless I can get a rear wiring sub-harness for a 916 mono by then.

I happen to know of a Ducati you could ride down there.
Anyone a regular on SBR? If so, can you post up a link to this thread or the info?

anybody doing one in the East Bay?
i'm in, but don't know at what time due to a conflict earlier in the morning.
last year, there was a pre-meet at the Starbuck's in the Hacienda Crossing shopping center in Dublin at the Hacienda exit off I-580.
i could probably get there by 10:30, but don't know if that's too late.
I will be there, coming from Sunnyvale, meeting up at Alice's
So I hear DNA won't be at La Ducati day this year. What gives? Johnc?

no.
You're only sayin' that cuz you sold all your streetbikes. You could show up on your Ruckus (still have it?).

Yeah, but it would take me all day to get there, it will only do about 15-20 uphill. Center stands up at 4am.

Would you bail me out of jail?

DNA is co-sponsoring LDD, as they have since 2004 ... and we will have DNA staff at the event ... just not danny carson, as he will be @ the mexico event.

"the mexico event" sounds like code for something dirty

Anyone want to take me two-up and i can do some video and pictures along they way?

Anyone in the East Bay want to ride down to Saratoga or out to SF to meet w/ everyone else?????
Later
Blake,
I'll be leaving from the San Ramon area and will likely leave the Pleasanton/Dublin area I-580 and I-680 around 10:30 ish.
Ciao!
Hey everyone- count me in for the pre meet at Zeitgeist in SF. I'm hardly, ok, never around on the board, but I figured this would be a great opportunity to meet ;D *disclaimer* I still have my ducatimonster.org sticker on the monster, so I apologize up front if I don't have time to take it off before the meet!
Ces
See ya there! [thumbsup]
I still have a dml sticker on my helmet. Tried to get a dmf one on there but they're too dang big.

I think we need our own MOB logo
How many bikes do you think will be part of this group, and what time do you think you will all arrive?
I am caging it and borrowed some traffic cones. I will be there at 9:30, and if they allow me to do so, perhaps I can block out an area for your group to park. Can even call it the Monster Pen. Only thing is you have to arrive before 1-ish, because I need to take the cones with me when I leave.

Duc monsters have designated parking saved already. We'll arrive around noon.
See ya there. [thumbsup]

tru dat ... we will be reserving the spaces out front of the strip mall (sorry, not a stripper mall) for monster parking.
76 in Saratoga, I'm there.
ciao a tutti -
drove up 84 to la honda early this am to start setting up for LDD2009.
road conditions on 84 are pretty good, with following exceptions:
- they just repainted the center and side lines ... sort of slippery with the morning fog, so be careful of the paint lines.
- 84 still has the one lane with traffic light on the westbound side of 35, halfway between alice's and la honda.
- also, some mud/rock slides were being cleared as i returned home this afternoon.
see everyone tomorrow.
ciao,
johnc
Was it cold?
I still remember reading about that ugly oil trap incident last year. Be careful everyone.
Yeah I can get that out of my mind.
I sure hope no crazy people are doing shit like that again this year... Be careful guys and gals.
I am afraid I cant make it this year. I am pulling a all nighter at work. They decided to pick this lovely day to do Database Maintenance on me =( Sigh.
Hope everyone has a great time.
I'm out. And, unfortunately, off my feet for a bit. I tweaked my left achillies tendon during the Ride2Recovery San Francisco to L.A. ride last week. It's gotten worse over the last few days, and last night it got real bad. So, before it completely blows out, I'm sidelining myself and playing it safe.
Bummed...I was adjusting my chain yesterday and found the rear sprocket loose.... [bang] I need to pull it apart and see why it's moving, but I was highly anticipating going to LDD today. Hope everyone has fun and gets home safe.
Later
I caught on to the end of you guys on skyline, then did not stop at Alice's but then saw you all waiting at the light for construction on 84 as I left. (yeah I did not stay long)
Looked good [thumbsup] all those assorted monsters. Too bad my dash is still non functional, I would've joined in. Felt like an ugly BMW would look odd with all the Italian beauties.

Lo and behold, what I can only assume was the same douchebag put a few thousand roofing nails on the same corner.
Sheriff & Co discovered it and cleaned it up early in the AM, but they now realize last year's oil incident was no accident. As an added bonus a deputy got a nail in the foot, so they'll be tacking on (ha ha) some extra charges to the list.
Other than that, it was great seeing folks who don't normally come out for beers & group rides. And no crashes coming in [thumbsup]
That was one nice time, cold but nice. Nice to see every one again..!! [thumbsup]
I was glad I could make it - the in-laws obliged by bailing on lunch today, so FREEDOM! Yay!!
Thanks to everyone who helped organize La Ducati Day and helped out!
Nice to meet everyone who I met.. I was the dork who can't park...
Johnc you need a new avatar, you look nothing like the monkey [cheeky]
Thanks Juan for sweeping. I was the orange one in the very back [moto]
Thanks Ces for bringing my ass back cuz I dunno where I'm going [moto]
oh and spiderman for organizing the MOB ride in~ [moto]
[coffee]
Good seeing everyone. [thumbsup] Sorry if I didn't get to meet all of you. A special thanks to Drunken Monkey, Juan, Petemg, Desmoquattro, Sidm and Michael Moore for helping out and making sure everying went smoothly. The pace--as promised--was slow and everyone stayed upright. Woot!
Someone was taking video of us leaving Alice's. Anyone know who it was? I'd love to see how it turned out.
Thanks for the decal! I didn't have a chance to meet up at Alice's but met a few of you at the event. Hope to make it to many more.

I didn't even see that bike today and I usually pay good attention to older Brit bikes.
