Title: 848 Tail Chop
Post by: Jester on October 17, 2009, 07:13:51 PM
So what good options are out there for the license plate relocation?  The comp werkes kit puts the turn lights in the vents, not sure how that turns out.  Does anyone make integrated turn/brake lights that are NOT clear?  I found a clear and a smoke option, not red yet.  SBK owners chime in with what you did and where you got it please.  Pics would be sweet if possible.  Thanks folks!

Jacob

That evo plate relocator looks almost exactly like the one they make for the Tamburinis. I have one on my 916SPS and 996S. Good stuff. [thumbsup]

Well... I should be picking it up thursday as long as the rain is gone.   [beer]

I took a bunch of pics of the Monster today.  I'm really going to miss that girl.  My first road bike, and what a gem she was.

Where's it going? Are you trading it in on the 848? Dammit, if you get a SBK then we will never be able to keep up with you! [bang] [moto]

Yeah I'm turning the monster in.  I'll miss the comfy ride, but am looking forward to something a bit more focused.   [thumbsup]

IMO, rearsets should be the first mod. The stockers are rubbish once you ride with stickier pegs. I have woodcrafts. Love em

Red, white, or Nicky ?

The price of the WC rearsets is what sold me.  Compared to the other options it was a no contest.  Body work/suspension, then the 848 is done... I hope

Congrats on the SBK... like Webspoke asked, what color?

I'm sort of a purist in that respect.  The white is really sharp looking but I feel it just has to be red.

stock is beautiful  ;D

no the rear blinkers could be cooler. I like the street fighter blinkers. I think they'd look awesome on the SBK's.

Yes? Did you say something?

Oh, nevermind  :-[

Although we had beers at The Monk only once with Scott I remember you wanting to ride more from our conversations that night. I'm glad to see you got a SBK. Congrats! Now, you'll know the reason why Ducati calls it "Superbike".  [thumbsup] Let's go ride!

Ok, enough of this mindless thread jacking.... back to the topic at hand.  I decided on the comp werkes tail with the vent lights.  Looks like its going to take longer than the monster and I don't even have to cut anything besides some wires  [laugh].  I have to pretty much remove everything on the rear of the bike and the exhaust.  Why couldn't they make this simple!   [roll]

Not only the rear of the bike but the under-tank side panels will have to come off since they attach to the tail section. Welcome to the pita that is a full faired bike. Everything is tupperwared together.

Well, 4 hours and a missing parts run to AMS later, tail chop is complete.  The kit was missing the turn signal brackets for inside the tail section, but got it taken care of.  No pics, Tara has our camera, but it looks much better!

Glad to hear that it's all done now. [thumbsup]

Yeah, it took a bit longer than expected.  I lost almost an hour having to go fetch the parts at AMS with the bike in pieces outside.  Luckily my buddy kept an eye on it while I ran off, then we got stuck wrenching on his car for a bit..... so the whole deal really didn't take that long, but its the length of time the bike was apart.   :P
