i want to powder coat everything. maybe even my motor. but i figured i would start out with smaller pieces. so along with all of the other things i plan on blacking out, i was wondering if i could powder coat my oil cooler, or would the paint inhibit the coolers functioning? oh, i have an 2006 s2r with a 14 tooth sprocket [thumbsup]

powder will reduce the heat transfer to the air.
don't pc your radiator/cooler. get some high heat or radiator specific paint instead. Eastwood makes some good stuff.
Buy a 696 and then you wont have an ugly oil cooler hanging down there. [evil]

No. Yes.
Unless you live in Northern Canada, then I guess it wouldn't matter...
i sprayed mine with matte charcoal colored paint this winter, so far i have not had an issue, temps are normal.

Its aluminum, right? Is anodizing an option?

I used to work for a firm where I was powder coating auto aircon condensers. They had much finer fins than our oil cooler but they were no problem to powder coat. It's not going to clog up the fins with paint. But, as others have stated it will reduce the coolers heat conductivity a tad. But you're NE right? Shouldn't be an issue.
