Title: Maxpedition Monsoon Slinger bag
Post by: golgofett on December 12, 2009, 07:33:17 PM
Anyone have any experience with this bag?   Hard to tell how much room is in the bag based on photos but thought it might be good for riding with the messenger style strap.

1600 cu inches = 10 liters.

I have a similar which is very convenient, but I never ride with it - it won't stay in place.

I have yet to have luck with any sling type bag.  Loaded down or practically empty (even one with a stabilizer strap), they just don't stay where you want them to.  If you want a single strap bag that holds a ton of stuff, rides very well, is waterproof, and comfortable, check out Chrome messenger bags.  Mine is practically bulletproof.

Just my opinion though.

Kriega R25, He man tested, NYC approved. which says a lot since that bag has been through hell and back.

+1 on the Chrome. Yes, it makes you look like a Hipster douchebag, but it is also great on the bike.

+1 on the R25. I take mine everyplace.
I bought my Wife the Pategonia Atom - messanger style bag - only 50. Great fast bag to take with you around town. It'll fit a face sheild, gloves, phone, power bars and fleece etc. Has a waist strap which is key when loaded. never moves.

I've got the maxpedition kodiak sling. And, I love it. Makes a great travel bag. Used it for riding and it stays in place. Holds the laptop securely and all associated cables. It swings around and works really well for digging crap out of pockets or stuffing at the drive through. I've had a camelbak in it. And, despite stuffing it full, doesn't pull on the shoulder or become uncomfortable.

Ordered it from LA Police Gear too.

if you are looking for a MIL SPEC/style bag u use a original lightfighter RAID bag I'm to lazy to post pictures. but this bag is the bomb i have had mine since 2004 and have used it for regular riding, travel, and two deployments to Iraq (it still looks like new). its covered with BTS loops so you add pouches plus it has two zippered mesh pouches inside the front flap that help keep your bits and pieces in check. this is the best bag i have ever found.
