Suzuki's new hydrogen fuel cell bike - it's stunning, but i wonder how fast it is.

I like the funky look of it. Would love to see it in person and take a test ride on it. ;D
nifty
I remember reading about the first prototype and the fuel tank had like 40000psi between your legs.
That made me nervous in a crash of any type
Wow, the display is nuts. I don't like the sound of super narrow tires though. Wouldn't that have some effect on speed?
That looks pretty cool- provided it worked well, I'd take chance on one.
When gas gets to 100 a gallon I am sure there will be plenty to go around or not enough and everyone looking to get one.

That's very cool!
sure, why not? i'd ride one.

Companies keep making hydrogren vehicles instead of trying to develop a better way to make HYDROGEN! Right now it takes more engergy to make hydrogen than you get out of it -- fuel efficient? No. Having said that, it looks cool.

a bit like ethanol no? i mean it's worse for the environment than gas?
oh, sorry...

Well, like duh -- that's why it's got an EJECTOR SEAT! ;D

its actually kind of cool looking..
but, I worry about how quiet it will be...

I'm not sure about ethanol's numbers, but the whole idea of ethanol is to ease our dependence on foreign oil. Is hydrogen worse for the environment than gasoline? There's a lot of factors to consider. If you use electricity to remove oxygen from water molecules to create hydrogen that will then be turned back into water (and energy to propel a fuel cell vehicle, say), you’re getting less energy from the hydrogen than went into creating it. And if you’re burning coal to create that electricity, then you’d have a strong argument that hydrogen is more for the environment than gasoline. Thread sufficiently jacked!

well i am no expert but i read a book once... and i sort of thought the thing with ethanol was that it has only about 70% of the energy of gasoline, makes food more expensive for 65% of the worlds population, and is more harmful to the atmosphere than oil. now don't get me wrong, i love burning oil in my car, bike etc... but i drive a midsized car, not a 'SUV/Light-Truck/Truckover', and commute as much as possible on the bike... soo... i have reduced my dependence on oil (in canada we have gobs of the stuff anyway) and i am not putting someones dinner in my tank.
sigh... once again sorry about that

Me likes. I'd buy it.

From the last bit of news (a year ago or so) Honda's HFuel family in Cal. was given a car to drive. Every week they came in to refuel it. But they couldn't come in any earlier, because it took a week of solar power to make enough fuel for a tank of gas. [roll]
It will be awhile before we see it in production, not because of motor technology, but refueling stations and how to make it effeciently.

True, but if the energy comes from some clean source like wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, than it should be an improvement over gas. Having said that, I don't know if fuel cells are our solution to replacing oil.
Back on topic. That bike gives me hope that motorcycles will always be cool, even if they run on something other than gas and don't make the same sound as my Duc. (not quite as cool as a duc but something I can look forward to riding). :)
Very RoboCop [thumbsup]

Oh yeah, it would be silent! We'll have to mount some speakers or a siren to it so "people can hear me."
Very nice bike indeed!
Bring on the solar thermal towers! Electricity 24/7 by 365, rain, hail, shine.

They want to do a wave energy study off the coast here near my town but a vocal minority doesn't want it. Seem like there is a lot of energy in waves. could make hydrogen out of that I think. Or reduce the amount of coal needed to power the grid.
Anyways people are opposed.

not to mention the EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE hydrogen!
bike looks cool. but hydrogen is F-ing expensive. I think the alternative fuel method for bikes is electric. they will solve the battery thing soon enough. [popcorn]
Cool enough bike and I think it's the best looking ~125cc class machine I've seen in a long time (though I don't see too many in the US)
A question to the thread-jack crew - what percentage of the US electricity production is coal based, as opposed to Hydro? I'm seeing more and more wind/solar 'farms' too but those options are also spendy infrastructures.
Will have to fit Termi`s to the thing ;D

i can picture how easy it will be to torque-wheelie the 2010 100AMP Monster...
I'd ride that! The one Japanese brand I've never owned... w00t!
