Hello & Happy Holidays!!!
Thinking about putting the Ex Box exhaust on my M900
wondering if anyone locally is running one?
Would like to hear it before laying down the cash
thanks
zzilla installed one not long ago...
Yep, Trey put one on his S2R800 and the thing is WAY quiet.
I wouldn't change the Remus kit on that bike if I were you. That system sounds really sweet!!

After putting on the high mount Remus Ducati Performance pipes I gave a lot of consideration to the next version. Personally I think the Ex Box looks better on the single sided swing arm bikes and is kind of clunky looking on the double swing arm. I should have picked up the carbon can 2 into 1 systems when they were available and they were rare then. There was some controversy at the time with charts & graphs showing that the 2 valve engines lost a couple of HP with the 2 into 1. Given the fact that the engine already had the W heads I wasn't too keen on losing power considering all the dough I spent on carbs and a light flywheel. So the DP's stayed. The next best looking set up (IMO) that I've seen is to get two short, fat carbon cans that are a low mount fit. I may have pictures around somewhere but I'm pretty bad about that stuff. I'll see if I can dig them up but don't anyone hold their breath.

I think one of the exhaust ports on the box was blocked off, or had some kind of db killer in it when we saw it last...it was pretty quiet for an aftermarket system...

Thanks Rick, yeah let me know if you find pics of that low mount system!!

True, one of the ports was completely blocked off. BUT, my old S2R was really quiet as well when I pulled the silencers off and only ran the udder, and that is pretty much the same as the Exbox...

Please forgive my ignorance!!! ???
What is the "udder" you speak of?
The udder is a part of the exhaust system on the later monsters, the S*R series. It is where the catalytic converters are located on equipped models.
The Ex-Box is pretty quiet, and i have yet to remove the blocking plate from the upper exhaust port. i'm getting back to the island this evening, i'll pull it off this week and we'll see how it sounds at full song on sunday.
Looking forward to hearing it once that plug has been pulled out.
I found the picture but now I have to sort out the URL biz to post it. Oh boy, more stuff to learn and do.

That is ancient history. They are similar to D&D or Two Brothers but I don't think either of them made those. Maybe though, but whatever memory is left says that it was some other off brand. They haven't been made in years so anything like that may be one of those do it yourself projects that takes a while and many different prototype versions. Or you could patiently scour eBay and all the different Ducati forum classifieds.
I came across these on eb-y

Would they work on my M900, & does anyone want to venture a guess to how loud they would be?
Thanks
Exhaust loudness largely depends on how much baffling/packing is built around the inner pipe along with how large a diameter inner pipe & escape hole. The smaller the escape opening at the end of the muffler the quieter the sound.
As far as the eBay generic cans go the first question that comes to mind is how does the exhaust pipe hook up to the muffler?
How about these cans would they bolt up, on the M900?

Why would you want to buy those? They are heavier, and crappier than the Remus you have now. I think you are going to end up having to get a custom set up fabricated to pull off the look you seem to be going for...

Thanks for your opinion.
Thats why I am posting on here...I was thinking if those would bolt up on my M900,
I might cut the cans down to maybe 9" or 10" ???
And achieve a cleaner rear wheel area.
But to go the custom/fabricated route just doesn't make sense $ wise on a 98' Monster to me.
Guys thanks for your patience with me on this exhaust search.
Its very tough having Champagne taste on soda budget!!
Any thoughts on this exhaust?

They would look good...but any thoughts otherwise??
Thanks

I think you'd be better off getting used stock low mount Monster cans and shortening them.
+1 on what Mac said if that's the look you're going for...here's a pic of my exhaust cans chopped, cored, and painted...
I shortened them about a foot...

Thanks Xerxes
How much louder are they now?
You said you cored them...is that removing all the internals?
Do you have a pic straight on from the side / profile..so I can see where your pipes end in relation to the wheel.
Thanks
These are the best pix I have right now (bike's at the shop will try to take some when I get it back)
before

Bad pic but the cans end at the wheel's mid point or a couple of inches from the rear peg...As far as loudness, it's way louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud and yes I removed one or two of the sections in the cans (you'll see what I mean if you ever do this)
just swapped out the plug on the upper exhaust hole for the open pipe. Sounds delicious. Sound is much more intense in the lower frequency range, shakes my chest quite a bit more. Taking her out on Snake this afternoon. Report to follow in this space. ;D
Got a few pix of the bike today when I went down to SS...

Thats a very good look...how loud are they?
Thanks for the tip on the Micro viper's, they are out of my $$ range right now.
I just found a screw in my rear tire :(
so that is priority #1
They're not Harley loud but they are louder then stock...they'll get you noticed.
