Title: Adios, I mean hello or something.
Post by: yosso on January 05, 2010, 04:26:29 PM
INTRO FORM COMPLETION
Name : Mike Jones
Location : SW Missouri
Bike(s) (if any) : 2000 Ducati Monster Dark
How long you've been riding : Off and on since the early 90's, but not enough to actually have any skill/talent.
Anything else you'd like to share : I crash way too much.

More Fluff and Stuff...

I traded a KTM LC4E for this Monster in hopes of possibly getting back on a street bike that was slower than my last street bike (2001 Yamaha FZ1, which I crashed) but was still fun to ride.  Also, you've got that Ducati cachet and Itailian mystique, not to mention all the "cool" stuff you can do with the Monster.

Anyway, here's a video that I took before putting it back in the shop to begin the disassembly process.

Ducati Monster 750 in the snow (idling) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVgdCo-g2LI#normal)

The tank will be sent off to Ducpainter (hopefully next week) and then the frame is going to be taken to the local powder coater for a fresh clean skin (still trying to decide on a color and theme, Daughter #1 wants Razorback Red...me I'm not sure yet).

That's all for now, hope everyone is staying warm.

Mike

Mr. DucPainter,

Pulled the tank off last weekend and finished stripping all the various parts and pieces this evening, still have a bit of fuel oozing, so I'm letting it "air out" until Friday.  There was fuel seeping where the pivot bracket is "welded" to the tank, guess that's pretty typical.

I'll pack it up tight and send it out this weekend (finally).

Sure is fun taking stuff apart.  ;)
