I can appreciate that !!!
I work 8am-4pm without a lunch to get my 8 hours in and then go to my
2nd job from 430p-1230am.
I wish I didn't have to get up at 6am to get the kids ready for school.
Ahhhh weekends!

I know what you mean.
Some days I'm up as early as 8am, at work by 9-9:30, and work until 3:30, sometimes even 4 o'clock!
Then, when I get home, my wife has the Tyra show or Dr. Phil on TV, so I have to use the little (40") set, or surf the net until dinner. And sometimes I even have to cook!

It's a dogs life, I tell ya, a dogs life.

You're telling me! The other day I didn't get out until 3 pm! I had been stuck since 10 am the morning of the same day! I barely had time for a lunch!

Meh.

Typical 45-50 hour weeks, get paid for 40, dealing with assholes throughout, SSDD. Shitty "raise" (hello new tax bracket!) a few weeks back but management worships the ground beneath my feet and at least I have a job.

Blah, blah, blah.

(it's Friday night, I'm healthy, and some tasty microbrews are slidin' so it's all good  :) )

The person who I contract for is not sure about their sexuality and brings those issues into the office environment.  Sleeps with clients, sends our vendor estimates to our clients, posts projects on their and the company's FB page â€" before they're approved, complains about the state of the company but does NOTHING to save it from dying....

[bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang]

Yes, I'm looking for contract work elsewhere but until then, I must deal.

Rant over and thank you Desmostro for starting this thread!   [thumbsup]

I am looking too.  I can do my job in my sleep.  I often do.  Dang dreams.

No raise last year, no raise this year.  This pay period I only had 70 hours for 2 weeks.

I resent the fact that I work hard, get the best feedback, am requested for all the staff training, requested by businesses and students, and still no raise.  I even have a FB fan page started by a student!

Even worse, is there is no room for advancement.  I am stuck.  If I worked in a coffee shop I would be the manager by now.

I hear you. My job reminds me of a bad date sometimes (not the Indiana Jones, dead monkey kind of bad date). I get assigned to develop a solution that satisfies requirement A, requirement B, requirement C. I do it. And then I get a long pause and, "How does this address requirement D?"
"You didn't tell me about Requirement D"
"Well, you should have known. it's in the contract"
"I'm not allowed to see the contract"
"Oh. Too bad. Do it again"

Over and over and over again.

I'm fighting to keep someone else's ship from going down but have my eye out for other so-called ships that are going full-steam whether it's with a full crew or not.  As long as they have some COMMON SENSE!!!

ok. I'm done.    [roll]

This is in no way meant as a slam to women, but the company I work for is owned by a woman, and the two other main players are women.    All three are just one side or the other of menopause.   No amount of rational thought or reality can crack through the maze of emotion that is running the show.   I really don't know how to deal with it.

WTF?

what the make the beast with two backsing make the beast with two backs make the beast with two backs?!?!?!?!?! I just got chewed out by the boss who's technically not my boss over doing things for another dept., and accountability for my time and this, that, the other make the beast with two backsing thing. so I call up the boss at that other dept to make sure I get paid 2.5 for the time I spent looking for stuff for them, and he jumps on to pay me, only to call me back because the boss who IS my boss already paid me for my 8 today anyway.

Working at least 60 hour weeks now for a few years. I didn't mind it so much when I was a contractor, since I got paid per hour. Now it's just annoying. No bonus or promotion since I became an employee. Finally got rid of half my job, 2 people are doing it and badly. I'm contantly being pulled back to help them manage. People are starting to ask how 2 people can produce less work than 1 person when those 2 people don't even have the other half of my job.

The only reason I'm still working for these jokers is because they allow me to work from home. I'm hoping my buddy gets offered a job near my house. I've worked with this guy a lot and if he can get help get me a job that pays the same, I would be willing to go back to the 9 to 6 life in an office.

So now they've given me 17 times more work to do! YES! make the beast with two backs yes! I will LIVE at work now.  [thumbsup] [bang] [thumbsup] [bang] [thumbsup] [bang] I have the key so I can come in on Sundays if I need too  [laugh] yes!

Deep breath. I wake up hyperventilating I have so much to do.
I have to figure this out or I'll go bananas. Time to grow. Grow faster grow faster!

Unemployed for 1 month 15 days now.
Applied to over 25 places I am qualified for.
Only 2 call backs. 1 said no thanks, 1 is still in the works.
Trying to stay positive
Trying not lose our apartment.
Unemployment might not go through so I am not banking on that money at all.
Now thinking of selling the Ducati to get by.
-sigh-

I had so many meetings today that I started to loose the ability to put a viable sentence together from the exhaustion of it.  I stood there in the CEO's office answering questions in half gibberish. It was one of those moments that you listen to yourself and wonder who is this moron speaking...

Not even coffee could fix it. I was spent genuinely spent.
