Title: Rev'it gloves - any FHE out there?
Post by: Slide Panda on January 26, 2010, 03:33:34 PM
I know Rev'it stuff is top notch. I've read reviews on various jackets, and a local shop stocks some jackets and pants - but not gloves. So any FHE out there - especially on the 'Jerez' model.

TIA

I got a pair of the Tempest gloves in hopes of using them as rain gloves. As such they fail. Their fancy no-sweat liner doesn't really keep you from sweating and also doesn't really totally soak up your sweat but it does an amazing job of sticking to damp or sweaty hands which makes it nearly impossible to put your gloves back on when you stop for gas in the rain. It also makes it difficult to smooth our liner wrinkles which can become uncomfortable.

In dry weather they're fine. Pretty warm too. Construction seems good.

I have the Rev'It Ultra H2O gloves which are supposed to have a waterproof lining.

They do fine in the dry or light rain, very comfortable and good armor.  They have also held up very well over ~20,000 miles of all-weather riding and a couple of very minor crashes (although they are starting to get a little stinky inside).

However, in heavy rain they get soaked through, and as erkishhorde says they are very difficult to put back on once wet.   They also take a while to dry out (usually still damp inside the next morning even when left next to a heater or fire).  They are definitely the worst part of my gear for bad-weather riding.

The shop I bought them from said that they felt the Rev'It jackets and pants were excellent, the gloves were good but not as impressive as their other gear.  Based on my limited experience with one jacket and one pair of gloves I would agree.

I do have another pair of Rev'It gloves which are more suited for winter riding, they are warmer (can't remember the model, they are a couple of years old).  Unfortunately they are slightly too big for my hands and so I haven't properly tested them out.  I am extremely limited on my glove selection due to my small hand size.

Hey Somegirl,
I noticed the liner in the Tempest gloves doesn't seem to be securely stitched into the gloves. Are yours the same too? I think mine are only secured at the bottom opening of the glove so I can actually turn the liner inside-out.

i got a pair last spring, and promptly tested them in a minor get off. they held up well. the only problem i had with them was while limping the bike home, i got a LOT of clutch fluid on my left hand, soaked the leather.

for the rest of the summer, the glove left black dye all over my hand.

I love my summer gloves. They're the R-25 or R-35 short cuff glove. I need to buy some gauntlets and will definitely go with a pair from rev'it.

Mine seems to be attached in several places, so I can't turn it inside out.  It can be moved around a little though, which is why I think they are hard to put on when wet.

I had a pair of Rev'it GT Corse gloves that had about 7k on them when I low sided at 60 mph. I slid on my palms and left knee, on asphalt, from about 45 to 0. The first and second layers of material tore through but the kevlar and base leather layer stayed intact. My hands came out without a scratch. I'll be buying a replacement pair as soon as I can. Rev'it also gives a 20% discount on a replacement a pair if I turn in the old ones to them.

Thanks for the info mdriver - sounds like a pretty good endorsement. And thanks for the info about the discount of replacements, if ever needed

My Rev'It GT Corse are the only gloves I've found that actually fit me properly. They came through a minor get-off with no damage to my hand. The glove was scratched, but that was it.

I've got a pair of Rev'It H2O's also.  I've not had to test the crashworthiness yet, but they are pretty comfortable.

It seems like everyone is out of stock on Rev'it gloves right now. I'm looking for a size L kelvin and no one has them. bummer.

We're in the 2009 to 2010 change up period. So 09 stuff might be out of stock and '10 stuff is trickling in. Give it a couple weeks

Finally got by a store where I could try on Rev'It gloves... and wow - they are small. My hands are large, but not huge and XXL of the racey style glove was too small. I'd say they run at least 1 size smaller (and then some) than A*, which I currently wear. My cooler weather A* glvoes are the SP-1 in XL and a snuh like they should be in cold weather. When it get's warm and my hands expland a bit, I have a set of the GP-tech in XXL that are plenty roomy.

I ordered a pair of Kelvins at the local dealership. I got a call the next business day that Rev'it USA is out of stock on them in size L until late May/June. The shop asked if it would be okay to get me a pair of Tempests for the same price.  [bow_down] [thumbsup]

I'm really looking forward to that PCM liner for my commuting needs. I leave so early that it's very cold in the AM and toasty in the PM. The tempest gloves look nice. I can't wait. I love my local shop.
