Looks like there is a Ducati / Italian Bikes only day coming up at Barber. Can you say "FIELD TRIP?!?!?!"
That's the weekend of Miller in Utah and it looks like the goal is for all Ducatisti to have something rockin' and track-related to do that weekend. The west coast has their fun, the south will have its!
Its in the planning stages, and I might... just be throwin' in my 2cents where I can (I'm trying to get more involved in our community!). I'm looking to make it a huge success and to incorporate some of my Nashville/Atlanta ties as well as bring a ton of Texas Ducatisti.
I know there's a few trackdays a little closer around here around that time, but with the extended weekend it would be an awesome opportunity to see the museum, ride the track, see the enormous spider sculptures, and 'get out of town'. And being an Italian-only event, there should be significantly less squids!
Let's get a show of hands, purty please.
I will never have another Memorial Day motorcycle experience so I can't go to either Miller/WSBK or the Barber/Italian bike throw down. :'( That's my wife's birthday and for some odd reason she thinks I need to do something with her. Weird huh? [bang]
I'm interested in this. I've got a truck and trailer for 2 bikes.
+2
Very cool. Hopefully some larger-scale group transportation will come together, or we may plan a robust caravaning procedure.
Note, like the last Ducati only event, there will be somebody special (recall last time it was Larry Pegram). This one, in my opinion, looks to be EVEN cooler. [thumbsup]
Of course, more details will come up in the near future. I'm trying to get a good headcount now across Texas and the Southeast. Barber ain't cheap and I want this to go "right" (especially if I'm even remotely affiliated with it by bringing it to everyone's attention).
you mean you will charge an assessment to cover your cost right? [leo] :-X
Me! [moto] [thumbsup] ;D

i charge you double.
no, i am getting nothing to help organize a kick ass event, i just want to make sure its in fact, super kick ass.
then charge extra for me NOT to me so I can attend a SUPER KICK ASS event. [beer]
Just throwing this out there but does anyone have a large enclosed trailer? We've got a 3/4 ton, 4-door diesel truck... 13,000 lbs. towing capacity ;D
perhaps we can find an old horse trailer for all our 'iron steeds'. [laugh]
BTW, I have a truck & Kendon Trailer, So I can haul 2 bikes & lotsa stuff, or 3 bikes.
Very cool. Tell everybody you know with Italian wheels. They are invited. Gotta get a lot of people, Barber's not a cheap track to get (and its very much worth it).
here are some for rental as well

and Lisa's truck can haul this one http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/ctd/1546503848.html (http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/ctd/1546503848.html)
now everyone should be able to go [moto]
:P I would have to rent an Italian bike - if I get Das Boot blessed by the Pope would that count ? [roll] [bacon]
I'm going to talk with my co-conspirators and see if it will be acceptable to be Euro-Only rather than Italian.

Funny you should mention that.... we happen to have access to this trailer:

Which could be rigged for 4 bikes and gear, maybe a scooter too. Should also be able to handle the human cargo as well.
more like 6 bikes and a scooter. did you mean the VespaCedici can go too?

Oh man, that looks like it'll be a great time.... just wish I had the spare time to make the trip, if not just for the museum let alone the track time.

Count me in... & remember, you're responsible, so I better have a good time [thumbsup] ;D
looks like we are half-way there with the show of hands across all the boards. So that's promising. Need about 50 riders total for it to be economical for all.

Can you define economical? Unfortunately, some of us can't print $$$ like our gov't. [laugh]
Under 300.

Can't believe we really need 50... We can have a lot of fun with 10 good peeps [moto] [beer]
Haha, I don't think we can afford to reserve the entire facility with only 10 folks!
You're one ambitious man. [thumbsup]
Don't count me in, or out. This sounds really good [thumbsup]
Sounds like fun. Count me in. But, being a manly man, I'll be RIDING my ST3 to Birmingham.
