Title: Ello from Akron
Post by: BlackKat on February 01, 2010, 02:27:10 PM
Hello Lads!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I'm a newbie for sure. I'm out doing some winter shopping and have my heart set on a Monster. It seems the economy is bad enough that I have many preowned to choose from. I thought its a good idea to get in here and read as much as I can before I make a good buy!

Cheers!

Welcome to the DMF and good luck with your bike shopping! :)

Make sure you check out our Monsters for Sale (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=9.0) forum, if you have any general questions about any of the models or what to look for when shopping, feel free to post up in General (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=1.0).

Any ideas which model you're looking for?

You do have a local group, OMHA (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=38.0), you might also want to post up in there but they don't seem to be very active. :-\

Best of luck again and keep us posted. [thumbsup]

well, I have now bought my first Duc...

having been screwed in so many ways over the last month over buying a Monster, I was about to throw in the towel and buy a Triumph. I've had prices changed on me due to "interest on the bike", deposits refunded and sellers just disappearing in the middle o questioning...Been 20 minutes late a few times too...

If you told me what I bought while I was shopping, I wouldn't have believed you. I was sure I wanted an S2R...

I ended up with a 99 750....for about 1/3 of the going rate of the 05s that I looked at. All stock but the few bits of clear lenses and the Forza mufflers...13K miles. I paid well under $3k.

Its a good place to start I suppose. I'm still a new rider at 36 years old...We'll see if it sticks!
