Hi everyone,
I am helping fix my cousin's 99 CBR F4 was lowsided. The damage was pretty light just a mirror foot peg and some plastic.
My question is regarding the plastic. Fairings from Honda are $$ and I don't see used ones on ebay that aren't totally destroyed. However, they have some copies for reasonable prices from China. I have no experience with these. Anyone here ever try them? Feed back is good.
Here is what I am looking at

Thanks for any info
Any ever dealt with one of these places? All the fairings are $520 shipped.
I know some of the stuff coming from china now is decent like fake crg's mirrors etc, and some of it is just crap. Not looking for perfection as a 99 CBR F4 is now a $2,500 bike on a good day, just something that looks decent.
what exactly is damaged on his bike? is repair out of the question?
fwiw, going price for a used fairing set (minus the tank) is ~$1000. you'd spend >$200 on painting (for a single piece) plus the same in re-stickering.
~$500 seems like it'd be worth the risk, though i don't see why he's looking at replacing the entire fairing set for some minor damage.
Have you checked out the sellers feedback and if they have sold these fairings to anyone else?
That is a pretty good indicator of the seller and the quality......
hell, the Honda ones are probably made in China too.
On other boards I've heard mixed reviews of various Chinese fairings. Seems to be very hit and miss. The only personal (not really) experience I've had with them is a good friend that got a side panel for his CBR 600. He said fitment was perfect but the paint was crap and he ended up deciding to custom paint it.
Sorry, not much help.

The left side fairing and tail were road rashed pretty bad. I figured between both pieces he is looking at just under $500 for used parts and shipping. I figured if these were decent I could sell the remaining panels and get some money back. The feed back on ebay was decent.
Thanks for the comments guys. Keep them coming..
From feedback, it looks to be a good product. There appear to be no complaints.
i dont think they are the same material as stock though. much thinner and more flexiable.

if you want same as stock, pay up for oem or don't wreck. ;D
Wish I could see a set to compare. They look pretty darn good in pictures.

I have a FILA set on my 996, and the above statement is true, but they're still plenty serviceable. THey're cheaper plastic, but that hasn't caused me any problems in use. The fit is not quite as good as stock, but this is only near the headlights. Everywhere else it's fine.
When you look at that price, keep in mind there may be import duties on top of the $520. I don't know who to check with about that, but in the past, I heard the duties could be $4-500.
"All item will mark as "GIFT" on the custom form"
Not sure if I'd have to pay duty or not. That would be a deal breaker though.
Swampduc, who did you get your FILA kit from?
I didn't, it was on the bike when I bought it. I've since picked up immaculate stock fairings on another forum, the whole set for $800. Though I still ride with the FILA fairings on. I'll bet if you hold out for a while, you can get the pieces you need on a forum for relatively little $, but the Chinese plastics work fine if that's what you choose to do.
