The World Superbike season rolls off on Sunday February 28 from Phillip Island. We're having a backyard BBQ and race watch party at our house beginning at 3pm. We'll tivo the coverage slightly so commercial breaks can be blasted through... ;D
Hope to see you there... er, here... Whatever [laugh]
Sounds like a good time--I'd be interested. [thumbsup]
i'd be interested!
[thumbsup]
Only 12 days away [popcorn] sounds like a great plan.
Add one more [thumbsup]
I should be able to make this. Pray for good weather!

[thumbsup]...+2 on the good weather.
Well It's ON then!
We'll supply the BBQ, soft drinks, and a cole slaw salad. If you all want to bring anything else like bread, a dessert, or a drink of your choice, please do. We also have a cigar friendly patio 8)
Now all we have to do is get some cooperation from the weather!
PM me if you need directions to our house.
Lisa - sounds like fun (like last time),. I'll confer with The Sweetie, but I have some questions:
1 With so many peeps coming, will we have to watch the races in shifts?
2 How early should I come in order to give you time to detail my bike? ;D
3 Yes, I need directions again.
George. In Dallas. Actually, in Allen - where the HOV ends and OK begins.
I'm gonna have to make this. Will fill paniers with goodies and mosey on over. Please pm me with your lat/lons [laugh] Can't wait for WSBK010! :o
Oh, man! This is beginning to sound like a real par-TEH. Now if Scott would show... [thumbsup]
So, is there a body count yet (14?) for this shindig? What should meeses bring?
Weather should be in the 50's and cloudy. Although a 100% chance of fun is forcast I think we can deal with that. [beer]
Who's riding over? [moto]
I'm bringing chips, I work for the chip and soda company, easy ;D

I be ridin'... hope to have The Sweetie on pillion. (MUST remember not to charge battery in intercom headset ;D).
Lisa, maybe let someone else start another thread on this. Your events seem to bring rain [bang]
i'll be caging it over. I can't risk any damage to my precious moonpies. That, and the wiring harness to my bike is spread eagle on my garage floor.
I may have to work Sun. I'll let you know
we will try and come by in the cage of course.
Yeah, we're ready to go for this shindig; went to the German Deli and stocked up on bratwurst, spatzle, and red cabbage. We'll also have grilled chicken, potato salad and bread.
What someone can bring if you want is a dessert (to go along with the Moon Pies!) and whatever it is you want to drink. We'll have Cokes and Sprite, diet and "regular."
Who knows about rain on Sunday... It's prolly not a bad idea for someone else to start another thread about this since mine always seem to bring the rain [bang] [laugh]
Did you say; "bratwurst, spatzle, and red cabbage"?!?!?!
I AM THERE!!!! [thumbsup]
Uhh, wait a minute, where am I going????
Please PM me with your address, and I will be there with some kind of dessert, possibly Pfeffernüsse, if I can find them...
Just checked the weather; looks like we might get some cooperation weather-wise on Sunday [clap]
Please PM me if you don't have directions. Also, if you ride on Sunday, be aware there is some major road construction on FM 1171 from 2499 (the major north/south road coming out of Grapevine towards Lewisville), all the way west to our intersection at Shiloh Road. The biggest concern is lots of loose gravel at 1171/Shiloh Road.
We have a small semicircular drive out front, or you can pull into the drive way at the back of the house and park there.

Well, then again there's (my favorite ;D)
BIG RED
The Phillip Island round would not be complete without Fosters...
I'm jus' sayin' [beer]
If the weather holds, I'll be riding to the Boyds. Do we have a meet up in mind for those wishing to two wheel it? I'm located near downtown, just fyi.
Lisa can you pm your address please?
Thanks for the directions. I got it now. I take I-35W North to 287 then exit at Rhome, Texas to Hwy 407 and taking a right there I follow that road until it turns into McMillan Rd.! Got it! Thanks again. [thumbsup]
not to be the paranoid privacy police or anything, but you may want to edit that post to be a little more "vague"... this is the interwebs, after all.

Good point. RED's directions, though, get you to somewhere just south of...
nowhere ???
Alrighty then - looks like we've got ten or twelve folks for tomorrow's race-watch and BBQ [thumbsup] Weather report claims to have not much chance of rain, mostly sunny skies with a high in the upper 50's.
We're looking forward to it and I hope everyone gets a chance to stop by at least to say hi!

weather is looking like it will hold until about 8 so I'm gonna ride home around 7 from the party. I think I have 5 peeps in tow. cruise director out.
I'm not 100% for two wheels atm. I've been under the weather today, so it depends on how I'm feeling if I ride or cage it. See you guys there one way or another.
You guys can park in the small semi-circular drive by the mailbox or you can pull in the driveway. We've moved our autos out on the street so the garage is clear if you want to pull in there.
Of course it is Ducati only parking [evil] [laugh]
I hope everyone can make it out - should be an awesome good day!

I for one see the humorous thought Rich put into his post! Actually I'm laughing my ass off!! That's great. I hope you and Bryna come out! Would love to see the new scoot.
Posted that because I got the Discount Dax's super tired tire super special tire deal. Stuart is putting them on in a few minutes then I'm off to the wild blue yonders to put some much needed miles on the bike.
This will be the first time since November I've had the chance to ride any distance and I'm very psyched! See you all there.

Thank you Lisa and Alan for the wonderful race watching party. And the WSBK racing wasn't bad, either! ;)
That wheelie I pulled as I left was totally unintentional on my part, honest. :-[ I just got on it a little too hard accelerating downhill. When will I ever learn:"twist back to go faster, roll forward to slow down"?!?! [roll] I dunno, somehow that seems backwards to me.
Fortunately, those sirens I thought I heard down the street turned out to be just some small children playing in the road. :o
great gathering and thanks again Alan and Lisa. nice to know that Fastwin didn't spoil the second race [laugh]
I too am apologetic for the wheelie and 1st gear rant down your street......NOT. [evil]
Thanks much to the Boyds for the great food and hospitality.
It was great to see so many bikes out today. [moto]
BTW: Muskrat, when are you having your next sign language class? ???
+ [thumbsup] [thumbsup] this may need to be an annual event ! I chose not to wheelie, but could not stop the wheelspin getting onto 1171 :o

Thanks for the update, I had been working off this list...

(sorry for the thread jack)
That group of hooligans will assuredly make "breaking news" tonight on the late evening news! Glad you guys had fun. Great racing as always. Can't believe that WSBK rookie James McCain lapped the field in both races!! [laugh] More good racing to come for sure. [moto]
Wow, good times! We had a great time - y'all rock [thumbsup] I've got a few pics I'll post tomorrow :)

I got a whole flock of those just for ya
Thanks for the spread and everything else. Much appreciated.
looks like it was a good turnout! wish I could have been there!! looks like a bunch of new peps!!
I had a great time! I hope the race watch parties are a frequent occurrence, that is, so long as I don't know the winner beforehand...
Thanks Alan and Lisa for such a gracious spread. [bow_down] I'm not worthy! [bow_down] Very nicely done I must say. I just wish I could have stayed to be more a part of the festivities. I suppose physics is more important than WSBK...?...right?...NAH! Well, in my scant few minutes I did get to see the group I really enjoyed the holiganism. Yes, let's do this every race...somewhere. We don't have to mess up someones nice house either we could get some roadhouse somewhere to turn on the TV to the race don't you think? I know that sometimes Eurosport has the race on. Don't know bout the beer thingy though.
I had a great time! Thanks again, youse boyds.
There's a pretty cool little sports bar near me - Dodie's - WONDERFUL burgers, MANY flat screens. Central-75 & 121. I bet I could talk them into hosting our next get-together.
What do they need? Speedvision and a TiVo? LMK.
Thanks again everyone for making this such a cool outing. Those who came AND those who stayed away. :)
George
I'd be up for hosting the next one in Oklahoma [thumbsup]

My post clearly had race spoiler in the text. That means stop reading. Again, sorry the link mentioned Haslam. I'll be more carefull if I do that again. [thumbsup]

stopping reading at the word "spoiler" only works if you read top to bottom, rather than see the link and read its info before you read the posted text first. oh well.
Yeah, I will be more attentive to wording in the links... if I even do it again. Just didn't catch Haslam's name and was hoping the word spoiler would make folks click off the post. I like reading about the races before I watch them and I know some folks don't. As you said... oh well. [bang] Lesson learned. [thumbsup]
