My favorite is the stonefly on the map of the Portland area. Brought back some memories of my hometown... Carry a flyrod as well as a camera on some of those jaunts? [thumbsup]
Great shots
What camera do carry with you? My digital SLR is a PITA to schlep.

It's a Canon Elph 800iS (or something), thing fits into a pocket (or tankbag) and has a wide angle lens which is the bees knees, and works great on macro too... I have a digital SLR also, but barely ever use it any more. Go figure.
I have a huge gallery of photos at ~~> www.Applewood.smugmug.com check it out.
Beautiful pics.
If I carried a camera, it would all be traffic, city, and pregnant doges in cages on cellphones.
Those are great pics. Looks like you have some great rides. [thumbsup]
Love this one; Willamette Valley - Oregon wine country...

Beautiful country up over there. Growing up in NYC, and then NJ I never got to see mountains off in the distance like that. Don't get me wrong I love where I live, but I'd love to trade our riding roads. There are nice roads in NJ, and Upstate NY but not 5 mins away from my place. Great North Wet is something nice. Was thinking of moving out there (worked on tug boats before going to operations, was gonna move to Seattle) I bet it's cheaper than over here. Always good to have a camera IMHO in case you see something worth taking a picture of. Especially good in the event of an accident too. Great pics though. Sorry I am posting all over the place today, but I am off this weekend (Maersk can kiss my ass) and all that is on is College Softball and I am too lazy to change the channel (aka too lazy to find the clicker).

Everyone of those photo's tell a story just by looking at them.

I have noticed something, why does the countryside in America look so run down? or am I getting the wrong impression

Man, this pic brings up bad memories! Last week, one of these buggers found his way down my jacket and stung me in the chest.

How do you mean? The old cars and tractors or the brown grass and stuff?

I think it is because America is a relatively new country, comparative to one's in Europe, and in Asia. But America grew rapidly and, especiallly in the area of mechanics, and even house building. So people preserve things that are of nostaligic age. That to us is stuff from 1850's or so to 1920's or so IMO. To me those pics show a farmland in the mountains, that has parts that are just old and not used, but still look beautiful in their own way.

Due to TV, there is a misconception that all ranchers/farmers live in houses like on 'Dallas'. Well, in real life ranchers/farmers live in the same house and work the same land that their parents and their parents did. They are far from rich and they use their trucks and equipment until they wont go anymore.
Yes, there are people that think their property is also a collection of "dead" farm equipment and trucks. I think that's more the idea of, someday they will fix it and make it useful again, but that takes time and money and most ranchers/farmers don't have extra of either.
That is actually a great thing for car/farm equipment collectors though. You can usually find gems hidden on farms. [thumbsup]
It's just a way of life here really. I personally love it, for the most part. It's Americana. We tend to bulldoze the old and build new on top of it...not so much for farm country...it's our piece of history if you will.

I took this one back on May 4. I'm afraid how much gas is now at that place.

You got some great pics, and captured one of the many reasons I love motorcycling.
I think this post has inspired me to find some really rural roads and to buy a camera. Now...what's rural around Boston...

From Boston, you are just a few hours within reach of some great rural areas. Check out the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont
