My tractor Guzzi needs two new exhuast/muffler brackets. I'm removing the GSXR aluminum cans that came with the bike when I bought it because I've finally located a set of exhaust cans that are original [bang]
Naturally, the existing exhaust brackets (cut with what appear to have been dull tin snips and a pick ax) don't line up with the factory exhaust cans so I've made a paper template of what I need that I'd like to give a metal fabricator...
Anyone had any experience with a fabricator locally?
Lemme know when you find someone - I'd like to talk with him/her about fabricating some long, slender reverse cone megaphones for my ST. Maybe from stainless tubing? 'Glass packed?
My aesthetic sensibilities are SO violated by today's "tin can" mufflers, I can't stand it. They look like something I would make.
Ducatis just BEG for a better looking exhaust, IMHO.
Do they need to be welded or bolted to te cans/frame? For welding aluminum I know a guy or 2, for a simple bolt on bracket and steel welding I can probably make it. Just made a new exhaust bracket for UJs 675 to fit the sato rearsets [thumbsup]

What I need would be made from roughly 1/8" or 3/8" flat aluminum sheet. The plate's overall dimensions are 4 1/4" x 3 3/4"
There are no bends or cut-outs, just three 1/2" diameter holes drilled through the plate in *exact* postions.
The outline of my bracket forms a sort of triangle - one hole at the top, two at the bottom. The corners are radius'd.
The problem has been finding the right thickness of aluminum sheet; Elliott's doesn't have it nor the usual suspects, Home Depot/Lowes. I'm fairly sure this thickness of stuff will need a die grinder or other something of that nature (a dremel ain't gonna cut it, literally!)
My paper template is exact and could be used to trace the overall shape onto the sheet aluminum so it should be a fairly straight forward job.

But can Stuart fabricate or modify/flash the ECU to compensate for the newly fabed cans? Or will it even need to flashed? Cans that is not the brackets ;D Can Stuart fab new cans? Am I out of line here? ??? I thought so [roll] [roll] [bacon]
I used this guy for a custom set of exhausts for my cruiser back in my cruiser days. He is a good guy and very talented.
