As the title would suggest, KTM demo-days at RPM. Rides will start Friday at 11:00 am until 5:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00pm. Not sure how/where their going to demo the dirt bikes...
Hmmmm... any RC8R models??? On second thought I should stay away. [bang]
I'm in
+1
so meet for lunch nearby and then go flog the toys?
I think I have to do Saturday, but I'd be good for that plan then.
Saturday is most certainly out for me. The Hardley is calling me to ride the shit out of her that day.
who is going? what time?
I'm chaperoning a school thing tomorrow at school and I'm working Saturday... Y'all have fun [moto]

Friday's out
My res is in for Sat PM
:'(
I can't go alone. I don't behave well without supervision. someone speak up.
I can't get out until after 2 or 3, so its a bust for me too I think.
I'm off Sat. I'm in on the Hyper [moto]
Louis and I are meeting at 11 at the Legacy/Tollway intersection at Beall Bank parking lot. That is if anyone can make it.
Shoot. My afternoon just opened up as "Coach" has to do work for client with case at 5th Cir.
I might get down there around 1pm?
Whereabouts is RPM?
It's usually the dial on the right. [thumbsup]
Close to you, on 35N a bit above 635. Between Valley view and Valwood.
you mean to tell me that you wanted to go? Josh, Louis and I were already there. We rode the 990 Super Duke. Nice ride but the throttle was WAYYYY too twitchy and first gear too tall. Need a few mods but overall a great turning bike.
I really liked the Super Duke. It felt much better than the Triumph Speed Triple to me. The good and bad: Great sound out of factory pipes, felt very light, powerful motor, suspension was undersprung for me by a bit, brakes weren't as good as most ducs, throttle was a bit grabby from off throttle - perhaps it was the camming or the fueling, but from zero percent to cracked, the bike wanted to react more than it should have. I didn't really find the gearing all that tall, so I would probably not mess with that. Fit and finish was very good overall. White spring on rear shock is silly.
And no current motorcycle comes with nice mirrors, I've decided.
The mirrors were better than any Duc. And personally my S4 is much more punchy and strong. For that money I wanted more but the design kicks ass asthetically
Your S4 has had work done to it like exhaust, sprocket and such, you're comparing apples and pears. They're similar, but not the same.
I do really hate riding a bike with disappointing brakes though. Maybe they needed bled, but they were a bit squishy for radial mc's...
Still keeping my Duc. Still like her much more
I completely agree. There's no advantage to the KTM. It makes a great 2nd place though. I thought it was everything I wished the Street Triple was. But still, I'd rather have my less powerful Monster with its chassis, brakes, and "character" or a new M1100 / Streetfighter.
I have to admit, that Super Duke was quite comfortable though.

Yes but I worked today. Maybe I'll go in the am
before the AMS BBQ
it's a beautiful bike, at least I've always thought so. possibly the finest since the introduction of the traditional Monster BUT it's not quite there yet to splurge that kind of money. I can only hope the Multi is everything the hype says it is and with no issues like the first 1098's. If that's the case I might consider one of those after the wife gets pregnant and we sell her bike. What a great and understanding wife right? ;D
Alan has a KTM dirt bike; the white rear spring is trademark KTM. They use White Power suspension components so all the rear springs are... white.
Lame, I know. True none the less [bang]
I just think it shows dirt far too easy, especially where grime can get during a ride. If you are going to make something white, do the bar clamps or something...
you get dirt on your bike? :o I don't. ;)
Mine seem to be getting more dust and cobwebs these days. The deadly grunge isn't helping. [puke]
I've always wanted to ride a Super Duke. The bike mags RAVED about them when they came out... hooligan madness. But then again I wonder how much KTM advertising fuels those flames?

Runs of 100+ mph will clean that right up. Let me know if you need help. ;D
Very generous of you. The line forms to the right. Take a number. [cheeky]
Just rode the 990 SMT.
Impressions:
Effortless, confidence-inspiring handing
Wonderful balance
Smooth, quiet, almost sewing machine-like LC8 powerplant (a little too quiet!)
Positive shifting, felt like snapping glass rods
Very good radial brakes (not monobloc, though)
A worthy competitor for the base model Multistrada 1200:
My neighbor has one with full Akro's.
