Title: mattress - latex or (memory) foam?
Post by: ♣ McKraut ♣ on March 11, 2010, 11:11:26 AM
so we're going to be looking around for a new mattress tomorrow after work to replace the spring mattress we have now.  i'm wondering if we should go with something foam, or if this whole latex thing is the way to go?  anyone have experience with either they can share?  i tend to get hot when i sleep so anything that keeps cool would be nice (which i hear latex is pretty good at).  i've heard "okay" things about the tempurpedic... but not anything that makes me want to drop $2k on one.  i think we're going to hit ikea and see how we like theirs (they have both foam and latex), since they're very inexpensive.

I slept on an inner spring for many years, never could get a good nights sleep. Got a 'floatation system' (water tubes) and slept great for 10 years. Just last year bought a latex/foam mattress and have never slept as good. No pains at all.

I bought our foam mattress at Pier 1 Imports for $500. Not sure what the cost is for City Mattress in Fort Worth but they actually make the matteress' there. Best thing about the foam is that if I come to bed late I don't roust up spousal unit while she sleeps.  [thumbsup]

Don't they only have one thing on the menu? Stroganoff or something like that?  [popcorn] [bacon]

LATEX.

Sleeps better than anything I've ever found.

Dust mites (which live in mattresses, pillows, pads, etc.) cannot live in latex - so you will probably notice your allergies will subside if not clear up entirely...also fewer colds, etc.

And they don't slide all over the place when you're having circus sex.

hmmm...sounds like it's latex far in the lead.  i'll have to take a short nap while i'm there to get the full effect.  we'll plan on "grabbing some meatballs" with you guys for dinner then too... i'll shoot you a text later on.   [thumbsup]

I needed to make that decision a few years ago and went with a latex mattress (from Ikea) after reading that many consider memory foam poor for ...ahem...recreation.  Been happy with it so far.

D'oh!, if I'd read your profile earlier I would have known you're from the Bay area. It's cool that you're posting here!

I'm a full-motion waterbed guy.

I could have anything I want -and that's what I want.   [bacon]
In the winter adjust the temperature up a little and it's always pre-warmed,
In the summer turn it down and all night it's cool and crisp.

The dog is a big fan of the heated waterbed too!
If Duke could figure out how to get his food and water bowls up there he's only get off it to poop...   [laugh]
