Sweeeet! Love those shortie Termis! [thumbsup] Probably doesn't sound very good either. [laugh] Looks like a very nice job. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done and buy yourself several beers. [drink] [clap]
Looks about 300x better! Nice work on cutting the carbon.
Thanks ! I really need to do something to that ugly lower clamp. I'll probably lower the front light too ...
That sir is a very hansom and manly motorcycle you have there [thumbsup]
Now you have done that you can go and clean up your yard [laugh]
Ahahaha I was afraid someone would notice. I've bought a very old house and I'm pretty much destroying the interior =). And before someone makes a comment about the hole in my bumper, yes, it was my wife.
Your bike looks great, but personally I don't have a prob with the stock look.
With a little gentle persuasion you can get to cans to seat fully down into the exhaust pipes too. Those are barely into the pipes.
LA
[bacon] [bacon] Looks great. I'm planing on doing a similar chop in a few weeks. Those shots give me even more confidence in the look.
Pictures dont do a real justice, the bike really feels shorter and meaner. A tad louder but nothing drastic. Not really hard to do, took me about an hour and a half. Measure the pipes on the bike, take off boths cans. I've popped the rivet out with a drill, removed caps, chop saw at 4 inches with a metal/carbide blade, realign caps, drill holes, rivets, bingo. Remember to wear a mask or something, carbon is nasty as hell. Here's some other shot/different cut :

Hi guys,
Here's the final touch ! Black matte restripping. I'll post other angles soon ...

NICE!!!!
kind of looks like a Manta ray from behind
sort of dark and menacing in a good/ evil way [thumbsup]
matte black looks great. I have a question though, i have a dark, and have had trouble cleaning it, since you cant wax it, and most car wash soaps have detergent and waxes in them, what are you going to use?
I use Hertel "all-purpose" Bio cleaner (not sure if its sold in the US). There no wax in it. It works perfectly.
great thank you [bow_down] i'll look for it
NICE! love those cans man!
btw how is that corbin seat for u and ur passenger if u carry one
I always loved the fit, but Corbin seats are firm. I did a couple of 1500km (1k mile) rides and I prefer this seat over the original. As for the passenger side, I usually carry her over short distance (2 hours or so) so maybe its not worth it. I had the chance to grab one in local ads and since it changed my life on my previous Z1000, I grabbed it. But keep it mind the Z1000 stock seat is crushing your nuts on the tanks ; monster stock seat isnt that bad at all.
Hope it helps and sorry for my lousy english =).
cut the tail off finally and 4 and 1/2" off the cans [thumbsup]

Geez I missed your last post ... AWESOME WORK !!! [thumbsup]
Nice work! [clap]
It's pretty much all your fault TAftonomos =)
I plan to do the same chop on my S2R1K. But mine will be the side by side version made for the S4R. I'm afraid to try the chop saw though. It seems that saw can easily get out of control. I will try a wet saw (tile cutter) first. Also, I'll run the shop vac at the same time to cut down on airborne carbon dust. How long are the cans now?

does anyone know's measurments of this radical termi's chop [beer]
i'am asking because i will chop my termi's like this (only waiting them still to come) [Dolph]
thanks
Sweet bike! What kind of turn signals do you have? I'm digging it. Reminds me of the 848 hidden in the vents.
I cut 4.5" off my Termi's. It was enough to match the end of the tail.

were you able to use the key release for the seat? Seem tight...but freaking excellent job.
I like highmounts that are high up/closer to the frame and seat.
I had to remove mine. I just use the pull cable to release.

The anlge doesn't show too well, but there is just enough room to use the key. Here's a view of the back

Hey Nero
Were your oval termi's just a perforated mid pipe with wrapping around it? Did u take any pics of the cans whilst they were apart? Ive got non race termi's which are slightly different, so I just wanted to find out what's inside the normal ones so i can "fix" them ;)
Thanks mate
Duke8 yeh its just a perforated mid pipe with wadding around it when cutting the can use tape along the cut line and the finest cutting disc you can find don't use a saw it'll just make mess of the carbon fibre.
I chopped my Termis before I even put them on. Love them.

I'm planning to do some chopping too. In the past of have used a chop saw with a metal blade for the regular monster pipes. I would like to use it again because you get a nice square cut but I'm worried about the edge of the carbon getting rough. Is there anyone out there that used a chop saw that can comment on how clean of a cut it makes?
I have a blade like this http://www.amazon.com/DeWalt-DW8057-12-Inch-64-Inch-Cutting/dp/tech-data/B003VWI1JQ (http://www.amazon.com/DeWalt-DW8057-12-Inch-64-Inch-Cutting/dp/tech-data/B003VWI1JQ)
Thanks
Hmmm... I used a bandsaw. But re: the carbon fraying, it will a little bit. Not to worry though, you can cut/sand the edge if you need to and no one can see it because it's under the end cap/tip.
I used a tile wet saw. Very clean (no teeth) and the water catches most of the carbon dust. I also used a shop vac pointed at the rear of the blade. Of course, I used a respirator mask too.
I had boomtubes on for a year (loved the way the bike looked), but I missed the deep rumble. Boomtubes sort of scream (and I had the "quietest" ones). I got the inspiration from a couple of threads here, and I decided to jet-hot and cut my termis. Just the end result (4" off):

And the rumble is back... Next: probably the rearsets...
Sweet!
