[bang]
I am just continually amazed at the arrogance shown to motorcycle riders.
Coming back from an early Chiro appointment this morning I had a fella lane change on me cutting me off quite badly
(forcing me to brake really late and hard) as he was hunting for that extra two second reduction of his travel time.
I pulled up beside him shook my head and pointed with two fingers at my eyes.
His reply was the finger salute and a barage of Fn this and Fu ya c#nt he went on and on about it :o
this was from what looked like a respectable member of the community in his mid 50's.
I gestured to the side of the road to continue with our intelligent and mature conversation [evil]
he declined my offer ;D
ignoring the close proximity to my foot on the road changing in front of me again while looking back shaking his fist and generally caring on like a complete pork chop.
I know this happens to commuters often but I just had to have a rant
There now I feel better
Keep an eye out as you alone can save your skin don't expect the punters to give a shit .
Dez, the title of your thread is wrong ... one of the words you were looking for does start with an 'A' though.
Luckily the Chiro 'tune-up' had you on your game.
feel for you Dez, and i think we all know what this feels like. good to get it out and also to remind everyone to be careful out there - lots of land mines disguised as car drivers....
Too true Dez.
No matter if it powered or non powered car drivers give little or no space for bike riders.
It's hard to educate people who only drive in their own world.
Lucky I guess that you are telling us about a near miss and not a knob who knocked you off.
What do you have against Pork chops? I'm offended.
the best $50/60 i ever spent on a bike was this little gadget... easy to fit and comes with a rely...
Matty can vouch for it ...

Got one on my bike and used it on MrChop
I think that's what pissed him off
Woke him up from his insular little world.
Six95 so does that mean we can all call you Porky now ;D
Shoei headbutt perhaps?
It's getting hard to make me upset in traffic in Sydney. I used to just think that everyone was trying to kill me, now I know they are.
hopefully this wont happen again but if it does try and remember the plate number and go to see [leo] afterwards a make a complaint. if he drives like this all the time it wouldn't be the first complaint on the vehicle, so get it registered and the [leo] should look into it or put a warning on the car.
Happens everywhere in Tassie a lot of residents have shall we say intellectual challenges especially on the west coast. I had a truckie coming towards me slam his brakes on and turn in fromt of me blocking the road I also did a too close for comfort stop he then procesed to do a 25 point U turn. Being a girl I didnt feel able to challenge him was kinda scary looking. My partner reckons eggs. Blue tac an egg on the front somewhere and chuck at their windscreen. At least they cant catch us. [thumbsup]
Reckon I'd end up with more egg on me [laugh]
I'm sure their bad karma will catch up with them all one day. (That's what I'm hoping anyway)

excuse my ignorance by wtf is that? really loud horn?
luckily I dont get cut off hardly ever - I reckon it is to do with the termis (loud pipes save lives) and dry clutch - a mechanical symphony! ;D
that being said I did get cut off today by some idiot towing a caravan - I was not on my bike but in my old HQ Prem! Some people just dont care! [bang]
Yes it's a really loud horn, called a Stebel.
And it does a cracker of a job.
remember to hit DOWN on their mirrors. If hit sideways they spring back...
I must be getting soft....I just shake my head and keep on going. It happens so oftern I used to it. Sometimes just give them a good stare or shake my head as I go by.
Maybe I need to harden the make the beast with two backs up!
boys, matty, where do I get the stebel from? any recommendations?
last week I'm a t a major city intersection just outside the cbd, sitting at the red, the car next to me just....goes....forward 20 meters, he just 'guessed' the light was going to go green (in a 6 way intersecetion!) and ended up smack in the middle of it....now THAT is driving!
Plenty on fleabay
even red ones ;D

If Dock never picks his one up from me, I have a spare!
Actually, thinking about fitting the spare to the Vespa....

Where's a good spot to mount this thing? Do you put it where the normal horn is located?
Anyone got pics? [popcorn]
Dock mounted the stebel on the Rs before he sold it to Matty. It works well on the 4V bike on the side of the cylinder head.
You can see it just behind the oil cooler. I'm not sure where to mount it yet on the 2V engine...

I went with the Stebel Magnum...

Its smaller but has similar decibels, its not a twin horn tho... but a lot cheaper!
I havn't mounted it yet, but I reckon it may suit the 2valvers better because it should be easier to hide.

Just whaked it on the original horn tab relay under seat

In light of recent weather events [roll]
Any issues with water resistance/proof with either unit?? [thumbsup] [moto]
had my last one mounted up underneath the airbox on the Multi and it was in the weather, no issues at all..

These look the go, but what is the difference between 410Mhz or 500Mhz, and dont tell me 90Mhz. cheers
Mmick
he he he ha ha ha i wont
Price?
Can't really say Mmick.
Mine very much sits out in the weather, for a short time I thought it dropped one of the horns.
But it came back very quickly.
Can't say enough how great a horn it is, either one of them is a huge improvement over the stock jobbie.

I reckon it would be the "pitch" or "tone". ie: How it sounds, not how loud it is.
They look good I reckon.
I'll order a big one and if it doesn't fit, I'll put it on the car and get the smaller one for the Monster :D

I think when you commute on a bike you get immune to the risks and incidents from traffic. I am the same as you and i never get agro as i just don't seem to care. The fact is if someone cuts me off in traffic i know i'll be 100 cars ahead of them within the next 5 minutes anyway [moto]
I couldn't get the nautilus to fit without it getting in the way of the steering or looking fugly so I went for the Magnum, in my opinion if you are only going to fit one magnum, go for the higher pitch as that may better penetrate the skull of your average motorist.
I ounted mine on the original horn bracket (S2R) I had to carve a bit of the plastic off the horn to make it fit neatly, but as long as it's not facing in to the weather, will be fine.

Yep. there isnt any point in raising your own blood pressure and giving yourself ulcers and ruining your disposition and most importantlym your objectivity while on the bike [thumbsup]
The "red mist" doesnt help with good decision making! And in a Car vs Bike situation you just wont win if the cretin in the tintop decides to push you around! ???
And dont expect any support from the authorities! The question that is usually asked is "What did you do to the driver first to warrant thier reaction?" [leo]
You're riding cos you like it, and therefore for fun! [moto] [thumbsup] Its up to you whether you are going to let some retard stuff it up! ;D
Mick, I think its the pitch. They make a low and a high pitch.
I went for the low pitch thinking it would make me sound bigger, but you could be right brimo, the high pitch one may get noticed better... dunno?

It is the pitch, and its 410 / 500 Hertz, not Megahertz!
In all reality, 90Hz is bugger all difference, get either one. I assume they have two different pitches for when you want multiples...
That frequency is classified as a midrange tone for human hearing - human voices are typically 300 Hz - 3000 Hz, so it's in the voice range where our ears are most sensitive. At 136db at that frequency, you'll be noticed.
