Currently I use a Kilimanjaro 5.0 jacket and firstgear textile II overpants to commute to work. The removable liner keeps me warm down into the high 30's, and I can wear them comfortably on the way home w/o liner when it gets into the mid/high 60's.
What I don't like is the bulkyness of the gear. Looks like I'm going skiing in the morning coming in. The jacket is a large tall, and seems to be the right length if a bit too roomy for me (I'm 6'5, 230). It's not that bad on the st4, and it would be the gear I'd go for extended rides in, as it's water proof, storage, etc... but it looks retarded to sit on the monster looking like I'm going into space.
The only piece of summer gear I've got is a DP jacket that is perforated. That thing is great in the summer, plenty of ventilation for me. I wear this with my draggin' jeans, which no longer fit cause I'm not the fat ass I used to be.
I either need a set of pants to go along with the jacket, or I'm up for a new jacket/pants combo as well.
Suggestions are appreciated.
Well, your Duc jacket will be made by Dainese - so you might look into their offerings for pants as they should zip to your jacket. They have a large range of pant types from racy leathers to prefy textiles. The only hitch might be your size, but the jackets probably the harder fit. I'm only 5'11", 205 and I'm pushing the edges of their jacket range.
Though I don't own any, I really like the offerings from Rev'it. They might be worth your time to investigate if you want to got for a new set.
The downside is Dainese doesn't make overpants, which is why I've abandoned the brand. I had a pair of Rev'It overpants and they were decent. Now I've got a pair of Motoport Air Mesh Kevlar and love 'em. Depending on your riding position, the mesh material might be too bulky. They also offer a stretch Kevlar material that isn't as bulky.
The other downside is dainese makes clothes/jackets to fit someone I'm not. 6'5" and 230lbs isn't on their size list. They stop making pants at a 33" inseam...which leaves me wearing high-waters.. :(
Take a look at the Rev'it stuff. I'm 6'2" and mostly legs, there gear comes in tall. I wear mistal pants and air force jacket textile stuff, in the spring and fall, both have removable windproof liners and seem to run a little larger than my same sized Dainese gear, ma bey because of leather vs textile? They make higher and lower level stuff to fit your riding style and budget, I'm totally happy with the quality. I do recommend that you buy a matched set , or stay with the same brand stuff.
