Spidey and I went out for a little ride to shake off the cobwebs of winter, and saw the Mission One electric racebike go by. Fortunately the guy had stopped so we pulled over and said hi, and then the chase van showed up with the president/founder. We chatted a bit about the bike and what it was like to ride, and that this bike was the one to race the Isle of Man.
Here's a pic:

Sweet. That thing'd be fun over Tam ;D
Is that painter's tape all over the side or some sort of paint scheme that my monitor isn't picking up?
Yeah, for some reason the back part of the fairing and undertail area were covered with painter's tape. This ride was a shakeout in advance of some promotion, so maybe they wanted to protect against paint chips? I dunno.
sweet ride. do you know if they are still on track to have these hit their (wealthy) owners' hands this year?
We didn't get into production schedules, sorry.
I would love to ride one though.
You mentioned today that they were heavy. Do they have to have so many batteries? How many h.p. (or the electric equivalent) do they put out? Could they make one that's a little slower and make it lighter? (more of a rhetorical question than anything... but if anyone knows...)
Less batteries would lower the torque and lessen the distance per charge. I don't think the weight loss would make up for the torque loss. However, since torque is instant, it would still be awesome.
