Title: Weekday rides?
Post by: hcomp on March 30, 2010, 11:33:37 PM
Well folks, now that:

A) I got my bike put back together (it sucks developing exhaust systems for the last 9 months....)

and

B) My little bundle of joy Lilah is 6 months and can occasionally do without daddy (don't worry mom has her...) from time to time during the weekdays

I may be able to squeeze in a ride here and there during the weekdays. If anyone is interested hit me up for a weekday ride.

Unfortunately weekends from here on out is a no-go. My wife only works weekend nights, so I have to play Mr. Mom all weekend.

Either way I would love to get some seat time if anyone is around during the week!

Thanks and look forward to seeing some of you again after a long hiatus....

On another note,

On weekend days I can cage it or play chase vehicle, but my little one will be with me..... She loves to be out of the house by the way and loves people!  She just doesn't hang on very tightly on the motorcycle.. yet; and the fact her mom would kill me if I ever took her for a ride even if she is old enough.  We won't tell her anything about the small helmet I already purchased.. Hi Ryan!
Good to see you back around!

Unless something exciting happens today, I have plenty of week-day free time these days and would enjoy going on some rides.

I'd love a lunch-time run ...
- Tortilla Flat

I am going on a ride with some DAM folks to Tortilla Flat at 2PM Tuesday (tomorrow) -  meeting at McD's on Elsworth (just north of the 60) . Feel free to come if you would like! There are 3 of us so far.

I won't ride with that group. *Every ride* I went on with them, someone crashed - and often made others crash. Irresponsible.
I'm sure there are nice folks in there, but that group showed me some seriously dangerous group dynamics and truly hazardous riding.

I thought it was a different group that crashed all the time.

Either way, I'd go if I thought I could be home by 4:00pm.

... hmmm ... I might try to swing it.

I went with you on a ride with them and there were no crashes...That time... Not that they didn't try. At least this ride is only 3 people and not large group where crazy stuff happens.

You should go Mike haven't seen you in over a year!

There was a crash on that ride - remember, we left early?

That said, you are right - a nice small group is waaaay better.

Are you talking about the breakfast ride? Someone crashed?

Yeah. Our little contingent left after breakfast but the majority of folks kept going.

I'm going to try to make it.

I'll probably just turn around and come right back, though. I mean, if you guys are going to stay and eat.

Now, are we going to where the pavement ends, or just to Tortilla Flat proper? I vote for where the pavement ends.

Not sure about how far, I am okay with a turn and burn myself. I have to be back roughly the same time you do. IF you are coming blast me a text. I'll PM you my number again.

Do you mean south of the 60?

DamBikers posted the meeting place as the McDonalds on Baseline and Ellsworth (south of the 60).

It was accident-free, as far as I know. Ryan and I got back alive, but we split to go home early (so I can't speak for everyone who went).

We did, however, almost get into two accidents right after we left the meeting place. We went through old-people country and they are killers. One old woman was actually driving down the wrong side of the road without realizing it.  :o

Anyway, it was a really good ride (after that). The desert flowers are in bloom and the view from the road was beautiful.

Yes sir! Glad I missed the first drama! Was a beautiful ride and perfect weather! Sorry for leading so slowly, I'm a bit rusty!

Not at all, that's about as fast as I go (at least until I get my new springs in).

I could probably swing a Wednesday morning ride. The 20th, right?

What did you have in mind? Tortilla Flat? South Mountain? Winkelman would be fun. So would Payson.

How far is the winkelman ride? I'm up for something the weather is too nice not to ride!  I need to take in as much as i can since it is 99.9% done that i am indeed moving to Texas...

Depending on where you start, the Winkleman loop is about 180 miles.

The scenery on the trip to and from Winkleman is uniquely Arizona. If you've never been, then you really must go.

My preference would be to leave early, go to Globe, then Winkleman, and then stop in Superior for breakfast. There's a cool little cafe that opens early called BuckBoard City Cafe.

Ryan, I gotta buddy who could come with us if we leave after 12pm.

If the weather is cool, I don't mind a late start. In fact, it helps keep the sun out of my eyes.

Although, that's the thing -- current weather report puts a "chance of thunderstorms" on Wednesday.

And we don't have to go as far as Winkelman. I'd be up for lunch at Tortilla Flat or something more local.

Darn!

I may have to skip this week cause someone needs a race car set up at Chandler Speed Shop tomorrow.  I've been riding the last few days and I forget how much fun it is!  I have a new rear tire too!
