I was at the motorcycle show and the Vanson rep told me what the difference is, but i have selective hearing syndrome from time to time cause i was objectifying a hot models butt every few seconds.
anyway, what are ur opinions? Ive crashed in Dual densitiy armor and ive come out a bit sore.
MY Scorpion XDR jacket has soft armor only. its this soft black dense gel made by sastech. It is very very comfortable and flexiable. Ive never crashed in it though, so I cant say if its good for anything. However there seems to be racers who perfer it over the other.
ANy comments?
bump.
My preference is for thick viseo-elastic (stuff feels like it has damping) soft armor with a hard armor turtle shell sorta outer layer. Aerostitch stuff is mostly made like this. Absorbs energy really well in a hit -- the harder you hit the more it firms up, just like the forks/shock on your bike. I tested it very scientifically by holding it against my brick wall and punching it quite hard. My hand came out ok. I tried the same with motoport tri-armor and my hand hurt quite a lot. I also did the same highly scientific test with Knox CE approved stuff and technik's stuff - both better than the motoport by a long shot, but not as good as the 'stitch viseo-elastic.
I'm sure other mfg's have viseo-elastic stuff as well -- my first gear jacket has some built in.
